LET AGAPE LEAD
Now before we read,
before we read
Here is the back round, we are about to read one of the most significant, memorable, defining moments in the
HISTORY of the Bible!
of the Bible!
Leonardo da vinci is famous from this painting, and many more.
This painting is known as the “LAST SUPPER”
This is the last meal that Jesus had with his Disciples before he was to be betrayed by a certain Disciples.
I am sure you know his Name............and if you do not and have been a believer for many years.
Then you my friend need to attend VBS!
We are about the approach the scene, all of the Disciples are at the table.
There are in the upper room
They are not sitting in chairs, but on the floor with pillows all around.
There is bread and wine, lets us read!
LET US PRAY/ HAVE YOUR SEATS
OPENER:
Does any one like Cliches?
Are any of you the kinds of person who has used cliches or continues to use them?
Such as:
“What goes up, must come down”
“no pain, no gain”
“Whatever goes up, must come down”
“What ever doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger”
What would Jesus do”
As some of us get older, (i am realizing that) we use cliches more, but the more we use them the more they become redundant.
No one ever really listens to them anymore.
However there is one Cliche that we should really pay attention to and follow.
“ALWAYS START WITH THE END IN MIND”
“ITS NOT HOW YOU START, BUT HOW YOU FINISH”
EXAMPLES:
In your Education.
A. Only 40% of high school Graduates decide to go the College
B. 56% of college students drop out of a four year career.
2. In your marriage
C. In your marriage
A. The divorce rate in CA is at a high of 60%
B. However that has decreased with the new generation, due to this generation getting married in their late 20’s
3.
In your family
A. When you presented your children to the lord, you promised to teach them in the ways of the Lord (not the church,
or church leaders) But you as the priest of your home.
B. Teach them the word, and also by example.
Teach them good morals and how to love God and people.
C. I can only imagine how you felt when you presented your child to the Lord, there was so much emotion and a strong
conviction to “train up your child in the lord”.
D. However through time other things started to arise and became more of importance to you, and you gave more time
to those things, and depended on the church to raise up your children, when God had instructed YOU to raise them
and “TRAIN THEM IN THE WAYS OF THE LORD.
Train -
A. To adjust
B. To charge (not to give up but to fufill the promise you gave God)
C. To disable and enable
D. To convert
E. To lift
F. To transform
To instruct, chastise, rebuke.
To cause the CHANGE, why change, because we are ALL born with a sinful nature and none are exempted from judgment and falling into sin.
I know as a parent you may think your child is a harmless, that he/she wouldn’t harm a fly!
Maybe its because you still picture your son/daughter still in your arms, and innocent.
let me tell you in the man after Gods own heart can fall into sin, so can any of us.
Including your children.
(IF JUDAS CAN DECEIVE THE ALL THE DISCIPLES SO CAN YOUR CHILDREN)
5. Yes i believe as leaders should play a huge role in the development of our children/youth, but we as leaders and a
church are here only to assist you as parents in the development of the spiritual life of your children/youth.
6. Do not take the easy way out, FIGHT FOR YOUR FAMILY, FIGHT FOR YOUR CHILDREN!
7. Just like you fight to work hard, and do whatever you have to do to have a roof and food and whatever your family may need.
Do the same, fight for your family, they do not belong to the world, but they belong to God!
4. In your ministry
with the same passion you had when you started your ministry, have the same passion to finish strong.
Do not allow things to discourage you, always you work for the kingdom of God and not man.
IF YOU WANT TO FINISH STRONG, SAY AMEN!!!
Question:
IF THAT IS WHAT MATTERS AT THE END (FINISHING STRONG) WHY DOESN’T IT MATTER NOW?
Then clearly my agenda and focus off.
My prayer is that we all learn and memorize this cliche “always start with the end in mind”
Are you starting today with the end in mind?
question:
Is the lifestyle you are living right now ,is it sustainable?
if you lived everyday (vocabulary, thoughts, desire) as the same as yesterday.
What amazes me is that at Jesus physical life.
He had 12 young men who would travel with him around the world, he sat with them, ate with them.
And at the of his ministry he endured the cross for about 6 hours of unbelievable pain and at the end of it all
Jesus ministry,
only
ONLY ONE DISCIPLES WHO WAS AT THE FEET OF JESUS
Only one made it to the end, only one finished strong.
These 12 guys risked so much to follow Jesus, gave up on their dreams, left their homes to follow Jesus.
But only one made it to the end.
Of course these disciples did great things for God, but at the end of the physical life of Jesus, only one made it.
Now the story of the last supper,
Jesus says, “ says to them all are going to forsake me”
Can you imagine hear that?!
all these years you gave up everything to follow Jesus, and to hear Jesus say.
“all of you are going ditch me”
Peter being the spokesperson he is, tells Jesus i will not surely deny you.
Jesus tells Peter, you shall deny me three times!!!
Peter could not believe it!
Later that night, that is when Judas is identified and leaves the scene.
Now i look at John at the foot of the cross.
It is amazing that there is only one disciples at the feet of Jesus.
