King of All
King of All
“Who has cleft a channel for the torrents of rain and a way for the thunderbolt, to bring rain on a land where no man is, on the desert in which there is no man, to satisfy the waste and desolate land, and to make the ground sprout with grass?
“Have you entered the storehouses of the snow, or have you seen the storehouses of the hail,
The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will.
Pharaoh -
And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, and the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord.” And they did so.
Cyrus - “the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus”
In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and also put it in writing:
Chaldeans
“Look among the nations, and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told. For behold, I am raising up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, who march through the breadth of the earth, to seize dwellings not their own.
The absolute Lordship of Christ over every aspect of creation and our lives is clear: He is King of All!

so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.
Preservation - 1:23
Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy,
See Christ, the savior; from start to finish our soul salvation is Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. It is true what the Hebrews writer said, that He is the author and finisher of our faith!
Christ in His Church
Christ in His Church
He is head - 1:18
He is head - 1:18
This is true in the global, historical sense, but especially true and most visible in the life of the local church.
Positively - we get to show by our living that Christ is King
Negatively - corrective discipline (the censuring or exclusion of members) is brought about by unrepentant contradiction to the claim that Christ is King

Of the gospel - 1:23
Of the church - 1:24
Him we proclaim - 1:28
Him we proclaim - 1:28
Even amid afflictions - 1:24
Christ in Gentiles is the mystery
Him alone we proclaim - 1:28
Christ Jesus is to be preeminent in all things. He is creator, and thus sovereign over all of life. He is Redeemer, and thus worthy of our praise. He is head of His church, and thus we proclaim Him and none other, for the saving of souls, for the perfection of the saints, and for the Glory of God alone.
