Many “Christians” typically just go through their lives, fulfilling their routine. Meanwhile, they desire to go further in their walk with Christ and to grow in their spiritual maturity, yet they continue to come up short and wonder why God is not working.
We fail to take time to utilize the resources we have been given. We neglect our source of spiritual power. We rely on our own strength and wisdom to live the Christian life and carry us through our days.

Cares

God never promises to work “just because.” This is not because He is being mean or heartless. He is a perfect gentleman and will not impose Himself upon us.. He does, however, promise that when we realize our need for Him and we pray in agreement with His will, He will hear and go to work on our behalf!
“When we rely upon organization, we get what organization can do; when we rely upon education, we get what education can do; when we rely upon eloquence, we get what eloquence can do, and so on. I am not disposed to undervalue any of these things in their proper place, but when we rely upon prayer, we get what God can do.” A. C. Dixon
Psalm 20:7 AV 1873
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
God wants to work in your life and mine, but He will not work the miracles we need or give the blessings He has prepared for us until we humble ourselves and yield to Him, relying upon Him to work as only He can.
“God is looking for people through whom He can do the impossible. What a pity that we plan only the things we can do by ourselves.”—A. W. Tozer
Jesus told of the servant who hid his masters money instead of at least investing it. When questioned about his actions, he gave this revealing response.
Luke 19:21–22 AV 1873
for I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow. And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:
For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.  22  And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:
Many who call themselves Christians have the same type of response because they are functioning with a skewed idea of Who God really is and what He is really like. Religion and man’s philosophies have twisted and misrepresented the true testimony of God and His character. As a result, many have either taken a very casual approach to their Christian lives, or they have become discouraged, feeling like, “What’s the use?” because they will never live up to their idea of what God expects.
“Ignorance of God—ignorance both of his ways and of the practice of communion with him—lies at the root of much of the church’s weakness today..” - J. I. Packer - Knowing God
Many “Christians” don’t do the things that God’s Word teaches because while they know God for salvation, they do not really know Him on the personal, relational level that He has made available to us.
After publishing Cat in the Hat, Dr. Seuss’s publisher bet hm that he could not write a book with fifty words or fewer. The result was Green Eggs and Ham. Dr. Seuss published many more books. much of which are made up with gibberish and words that he concocted to go along with his fantastic storylines.
Most of the time when I preach about the awesome God we serve, it seems to me that my words fall so short of doing Him justice and that they often roll off of my tongue and make about as much sense as Dr. Seuss’s words like fiffer feffer feff, yuzz ma tuzz, or zizzer zazzer zuzz.
To talk about the character of God is almost like attempting to describe ice cream to a child in a remote village who has never even heard of anything frozen or to attempt to describe to a blind person the beauty and splendor of the mountains we enjoy.

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
John 15:15 AV 1873
Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
John 1:12 AV 1873
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
He gives us access to Himself and He invites us to pray

Matthew 6:9 AV 1873
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Matthew 7:11 AV 1873
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
James 1:16–17 AV 1873
Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Matthew 28:18 AV 1873
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Psalm 19:1–14 AV 1873
The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, And night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, Where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. His going forth is from the end of the heaven, And his circuit unto the ends of it: And there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: And in keeping of them there is great reward. Who can understand his errors? Cleanse thou me from secret faults. Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me: Then shall I be upright, And I shall be innocent from the great transgression. Let the words of my mouth, And the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.

A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.  2  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.  3  He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.  4  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.  5  Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.  6  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Psalm 23:1–6 AV 1873
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.   For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16 AV 1873
