Intro

Daniel is a part of the first group taken to Babylon in 605 B.C. under Nebuchadezzar

Neb wanted to train(brainwash) the Jewish captives so they wouldn’t revolt and the be used in Babylonian court to deal with Jewish affairs.

They were taught Chaldean culture and science (Astrology, Dreams, magic, architecture, war, morals)

Body

1. v.8-Daniel’s Conviction

Would not eat food that would defile him

Defile is to make unclean. Considered a abomination to the Lord.

The food was offered to idols and against Jewish dietary restrictions

Daniel was bold in his conviction

2. v.9-14-Daniel’s Composure

God softened the eunuch’s heart

Daniel handled the situation in a respectful manner

Daniel feared God more than the King

v. 15-21- God’s Blessing

They were healthier without the King’s food

God blessed them with wisdom and knowledge

Through these gifts God would continue to use Daniel
