The World We Live In

Debt is one thing that is having a massive effect on society today

People comit suicide because of Debt

People get depressed because of debt

people do not live to their full potential because of debt

People get depressed becasue they never make enough to get by

Yet the church is pre occupied in its traditions that we are missing what the people truly need

We run a Foodbank at our Church

Sit with people

The people of this county are like the woman at the well.

Is Church just Pharasies in Disguise

Now when Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John 2(although Jesus himself did not baptize, but only his disciples), 3 he left Judea and departed again for Galilee.

Churches are so focussed on the details that we miss what God is doing.

We say church must be a certain way or our doctrine must be this

The sadest thing to happen as a church is when we create rules on how a movement of God should go.

Essex is crippled by Religion.

Non Believers look at churches and Just see religion

Yet we want them to see christ but were just showing them religion

Jesus had this similar Problem

He left the place he was working and moved on.

Dont be so caught up in how a church should run that God ends up moving on.

The Woman at the Well

May he give the blessing of Abraham to you and to your offspring with you, that you may take possession of the land of your sojournings that God gave to Abraham!”

Jesus walks with the same blessing and covenant

Does almost the same Journey as Jacob and comes and sits at the well

4 And he had to pass through Samaria.

5 So he came to a town of Samaria called Sychar, near the field that Jacob had given to his son Joseph.

6 Jacob’s well was there; so Jesus, wearied as he was from his journey, was sitting beside the well.

It was about the sixth hour.

28 :4 May he give the blessing of Abraham to you and to your offspring with you, that you may take possession of the land of your sojournings that God gave to Abraham!”

29 Then Jacob went on his journey and came to the land of the people of the east. 2 As he looked, he saw a well in the field, and behold, three flocks of sheep lying beside it, for out of that well the flocks were watered.

The stone on the well’s mouth was large, 3 and when all the flocks were gathered there, the shepherds would roll the stone from the mouth of the well and water the sheep, and put the stone back in its place over the mouth of the well.

5 So he came to a town of Samaria called Sychar, near the field that Jacob had given to his son Joseph.

6 Jacob’s well was there; so Jesus, wearied as he was from his journey, was sitting beside the well.

Sheep are being watered by the well when Jacob gets there

Jesus arives at the well and sees a lost sheep

What does he ask for?

Water

He then sits at this well, where in this land Abraham and his wife Sarah are buried, Issac and his wife Rebekah are Buried and Jacob and his wife Leah are buried the ancestors of Jesus all who walked with the lord.

So he asks the lost sheep for a drink

The samartines womans response is

9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “How is it that you, a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a woman of Samaria?”

Jews and Samaritans hated each other

Jesus knew this becuase he grew up as a Jewish boy

Yet he puts aside all traditions and past problems and asks who he sees is a lost sheep for a drink

He says to her if you only knew the person sat before you right now, you would be asking for the living water not why you asking me for a drink.

Then she says

Sir, you have nothing to draw water with, and the well is deep.

Where do you get that living water?

This is God sitting in the flesh if he wanted to he could make the water come up from the well with one word.

She also mentions Jacob, are you greater than he?

He drank from this well himself.

Jacob carried the promise but Jesus carried the convenant

Jacob started the Journey but Jesus finished it

Jesus comes to this well to join it all together to teach a lesson that all your past traditions and great fathers have now come to an end.

I am the truth and the life

15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water.”

Then the woman asks him, give me this water so that I would not go Hungry.

Jesus then says to her go and get your husband.

He wants to address this womans hurt, her pain, her suffering

He wants to speak to her world right now.

He shows her he is God in the flesh by telling her, her current problem but does not keep her there.

19 The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.

20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.”

21 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.

22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews.

23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.

24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

This woman sees Jesus has a gift

She sees a man that has just spoken to her about her hurt her suffering her pain

Yet she is so caught up on her religion teaching that she starts asking Jesus where shall I go to worship

Churches do the same, in my town I constantly here the Church of England say we are the established Church

What the hec is an established Church?

How is that of Christ.

People that are non believers are getting confused on what Church to go to.

Yet its not about where you go

Its about how you worship.

God is spirit and those who worship him must worship in spirit and in Truth.
