Are We Giving Our First Fruits in Everything?
Are We Giving Our First Fruits in Everything?
Where your pleasure is, there is your treasure; where your treasure is, there is your heart; where your heart is, there is your happiness.
Augustine.
what are somethings that make you happy what is it that you treasure.
Now if the firstfruits are holy, so is the whole batch. And if the root is holy, so are the branches.
Augustine.
What is a firstfruit?

untypical: relationships, work, prayer, Israel
What is the big deal?
God calls us to faith in Him
If He blessed us first then it would be easy to give out of our surplus and abundance
It is not as easy when it requires faith to not know that the future is secure
God judges what we give by what we keep.
God judges what we give by what we keep.
G. Mueller.
3. How can I know God will be faithful?
Because if the first part is given and made holy and we say we are going to trust in a You God because You promise you will never fail me, then God promises us the entire batch is holy. If give our finances, our relationships, our work, our school, our prayer over to God putting them in His hands at first then He will bless them.
Christ is the Root!
And if the root is holy, so are the branches.
“Be Holy as I am Holy” want to know where that came from , ,
We are going to learn in the next set of verses exactly the promise we have in being grafted to the root.
but for now know that Paul here is talking about the Jews they are the branches off the root
But if we know that the branches are holy because of the root. Then how why aren’t all Jews saved? Vs describes that some branches are broken off. Gentiles are grafted in.
The real question I want you to think about hear today is are you offering your life as a firstfruit, do you seek God first and continuously in everything you do? Or are you constantly waiting to see what God blesses you with to know how much is left you can give back?
The most challenging question is that of your holiness. Is you root holy? Or is your treasure something other than God?
You see God says “Be holy as I am Holy” it requires repentance, it requires God to invade your life, make you a new creature. You will still sin an struggle but is there a changed desire, is there a desire for God to be your treasure? If not I pray that God would invade your life bring you to conviction of your sin before a Holy God.
