Hey You! (Get the audience’s attention)
Miracles for the week
Esther freedom from bullies - willing to step out for her people
Daniel’s friends, freedom from fire - willing to step up for their God
Daniel and the Lion - willing to pray and worship in the face of danger
Elijah freedom from hunger, thirst and death
Fear is a common issue on all four stories
Fear stops us.
By trusting in Jesus we have nothing to fear
He conquered
Death
Drowning
Attackers
Bullies
Hunger
Thirst
The sense of fear is designed to save us. For if a real life, hungry, and angry polar bear were to be let loose in this room, and we didn’t fear him and get out as quickly as possible, we might become his lunch.
It’s what we do when we are afraid. We trust in Jesus, then we take correct action, and thus have no reason to be afraid.
Stay close to Jesus to not be afraid when times get tough or scary.
Like how the polar bear was not brave not being next to his mother.
Hey You! (Get the audience’s attention)
This week we explored 4 stories of people from the bible that experienced a time when they could have been overcome with fear due to a scary situation.
Elijah
Esther
Daniels friends
Daniel and the lion
What are you afraid of?
We learned we can trust in Jesus when life gets scary, difficult, or seemingly gives us a reason to be afraid.
Look! (Examine the Scriptures)
New Century Version Psalm 56
When I am afraid,
I will trust you.
4 I praise God for his word.
I trust God, so I am not afraid.
What can human beings do to me?
When I am afraid,
I will trust you.
4 I praise God for his word.
I trust God, so I am not afraid.
What can human beings do to me?
The Everyday Bible: New Century Version, (Nashville, TN: Thomas Nelson, Inc., 2005),
3 When I am afraid, I will trust you.
4 I praise God for his word. I trust God, so I am not afraid. What can human beings do to me?
See! (Explain the passage)
We may not be able to see Jesus. But we can see how he helps us. We can see the results of what he does. We can see his work. Let me explain.
Stay close to Jesus. When we are not close, then we have reason to fear. Because he transforms us.
Experiment
Like this polar bear. Normally, they are creatures to fear. They have large teeth and nails on their paws. They can run fast, are strong, swim fast, and they are not vegetarians. They love to eat people. They look so cute and cuddly, and make you want to hug them, then when you get close enough, yum yum. So they should not have any reason to be afraid....

Do! (Make application)
Fear can be a good thing. It encourages us to do something. To go to our source of protection.
That protection is Jesus. He conquered everything. He was beaten, bullied, teased, nailed to the cross, died, came back to life, flew to heaven, and he’s coming back to rescue us from the trouble, recreate the earth, blow up the devil. Life happy every after. came back to life.
Like our experiment, stay close to Jesus and when we become afraid, we can feel better because he is with us and making us big and strong.
Read, pray, share.
