Intro:
The love of our God is beyond understanding.
Love from God is shown to us by his grace and mercy.
The love of our God is given freely with no reservations.
God’s love is so great that we benefit from it every day like fuel.
His love gives us life and motivates us to make it in the hard days as in the good days.
We will look today to see how God’s love for us call us to action and he rewards us for our obedience.
I want to highlight God does not use seniority and experience as a tool to remove people from being blessed.
God looks at our submissive hearts and blesses accordingly.
We will learn more about the character of a God how is fair in just in all his ways.
God is perfect in all his ways.
Because of how good God is we know a God who is fair in just in all his ways.
God being fair is not your definition of fair.
God being fair is he knows what is right and just.
We then must trust the Lord decision.
Let us look at our scripture...
Parable of the Vineyard Workers
Teaching of Parable:
Teaches that God is looking for workers.
God will reward you what ever is right.
God does not discriminate.
The Kingdom has an order that is different than the world.
The last will be first.
God’ grace is the same at all times.
God is looking for workers
There is work to be done.
The kingdom is looking for faithful women and men of God to work for the Lord.
God’s invitation is given the response is up to you.
God has prepared in advance the payment for for his obedient workers.
Matthew 20:4
God is always going to do what is right because he is righteous.
Th
So no matter how long you work God will bless you at the right time.
Went out three more times.
First time was early in the morning:
Matthew 20:1-4
The owner goes out four more times: Third hour, sixth hour, ninth hour and eleventh hours.
Here it speaks of the third (9AM) and Sixth hour (noon) and the ninth hour (3pm).
Matthew 20:
The fourth time now is late in the day being the eleventh hour (5pm) and the day is almost gone:
Matthew 20:6-
God rewards the faithful
This payment is according to God’s law in Leviticus 19:13 and Deuteronomy 24:15:
He gathers all the workers and changes the order for their payment.
Matthew 20:8
The last hired were paid a full day’s wage.
This is what the early workers agreed to be paid.
This made the early workers presume they would be paid more.
Know God will give what is right.
It is hard in this life sometimes to see God being fait when things in life happen that are not fair.
However may point out that these men agreed to the wage that God has given them.
God does what he does.
Matthew 20:13-
This parable teaches us about the character of God.
God is just in all his ways.
The owner told them just what he was going to do and now that he has done it for them but also did the same for the ones who were hired last.
This is the problem the workers have with the owner.
They are upset that the owner paid them them the same way he paid the late workers.
The owner payment method teaches about God’s grace.
God liberally gives out grace.
God does not discriminate in how he blesses.
God’s grace applies to all the same way.
God is sovereign.
Matthew 20:13
We are not to get jealous because God blesses others in a way we think they do not deserve.
Beware of trying to hinder other peoples blessing like the other workers did by thinking they work harder than the others.
God’s grace is not based on our work.
God’s grace truly is a gift.
Therefore we are not to be jealous of how God’s grace is freely given.
God’s grace is given to who he desires to give.
As the parable shows that God is constantly looking to show his grace toward us.
Praise God for his grace.
We should thank God for his faithfulness in our life.
He has kept us in many different ways.
We know God’s grace because he desires to show us his amazing love.
We know Grace because the law shows us how sinful we are...
Thank you God for your grace through Jesus Christ that gives us right standing with you.
God is never unfair but always just and good.
May we grow in God’s grace and live forever in fellowship with him.
Know that your time will come.
If you are last and feel like you are last, Just know that God likes to bless the last first and love on them so just wait your turn for God to show up in your life.
Give thanks for the Lord is Good.
How great is our God that he loves us in such a special way.
The owner pays the first workers
