1. LOVE IS PERFECTION AND BETTER THAN THE GIFTS OF THE CHURCH

,   Spiritual Gifts
1 Corinthians 12:1–11 NIV - Anglicised
Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant. You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. Therefore I tell you that no-one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no-one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.
1 Corinthians 12:27–31 NIV - Anglicised
Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret? But eagerly desire the greater gifts. And now I will show you the most excellent way.
  Love surpasses Knowledge
Ephesians 3:18 NIV - Anglicised
may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,
- Knowledge will pass away when Perfection comes
1 Corinthians 13:8 NIV - Anglicised
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
 Perfect love casts out fear
1 John 4:18 NIV - Anglicised
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
United in love to have full riches of complete understanding
Colossians 2:2 NIV - Anglicised
My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ,
If we love one another, God's love is made complete in us
1 John 4:11–12 NIV - Anglicised
Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No-one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
Whoever lives in love, lives in God
1 John 4:16 NIV - Anglicised
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.
Perfect or complete unity = the world knows God's love
John 17:23 NIV - Anglicised
I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
Love binds all virtues together into perfect unity
Colossians 3:14 NIV - Anglicised
And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
LOVE IS THE PERFECTION OF GOD AND BETTER THAN THE GIFTS OF THE CHURCH ALL

2. ALL THE COMMANDS ARE SUMMED UP INTO ONE COMMAND

2. ALL THE COMMANDS ARE SUMMED UP INTO ONE COMMAND

Love for God is to obey his commands
1 John 5:3–4 NIV - Anglicised
This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
His command is that you walk in love
2 John 5–6 NIV - Anglicised
And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.
The entire law is summed up in a single command
Galatians 5:14 NIV - Anglicised
The entire law is summed up in a single command: “Love your neighbour as yourself.”
Love is the fulfillment of the law
Romans 13:8–10 NIV - Anglicised
Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellow-man has fulfilled the law. The commandments, “Do not commit adultery,” “Do not murder,” “Do not steal,” “Do not covet,” and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: “Love your neighbour as yourself.”Love does no harm to its neighbour. Therefore love is the fulfilment of the law.
All the law and the prophets hang on this command
Matthew 22:36–40 NIV - Anglicised
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Do to others what you would have them do to you...sums up law and prophets
Matthew 7:12 NIV - Anglicised
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

3. LOVE IS THE NEW COMMAND

3. LOVE IS THE NEW COMMAND

Whoever loves his brother lives in the light
1 John 2:4–10 NIV - Anglicised
The man who says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did. Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard. Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining. Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness. Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble.
The message from the begining Love One Another
1 John 3:11 NIV - Anglicised
This is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another.
The Command is to Believe and Love
1 John 3:23 NIV - Anglicised
And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.
Whoever loves God must love his brother
1 John 4:21 NIV - Anglicised
And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.
The victory that overcomes the would is faith
1 John 5:1–4 NIV - Anglicised
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
 New Command... Love one another
2 John 5 NIV - Anglicised
And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another.
Love each other as I have loved you
John 15:12 NIV - Anglicised
My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
  Live a life of love
Ephesians 5:1–2 NIV - Anglicised
Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Obeying the truth so that you have love for one another
1 Peter 1:22 NIV - Anglicised
Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart.
 Love each other deeply
1 Peter 4:8 NIV - Anglicised
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
 No greater command than love
Mark 12:31 NIV - Anglicised
The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
