1 After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go. 2 Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. 3 Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves. 4 Carry neither money bag, knapsack, nor sandals; and greet no one along the road. 5 But whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ 6 And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on it; if not, it will return to you. 7 And remain in the same house, eating and drinking such things as they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not go from house to house. 8 Whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you. 9 And heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’

Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near you.’ 12 But I say to you that it will be more tolerable in that Day for Sodom than for that city.
After Jesus selected his 12 disciples he appointed many others as well
Ultimately, He invites everyone to be a disciple
being a disciple is not the same thing as believing in Him
Believing in God is not enough to save you
17 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”
18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”
There are benefits to being a disciple
As Christians we have power over all the power of the devil

1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying: 2 “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.” 3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. 4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.
5 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 6 “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the Lord. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel!
Introduction
Several passages in the Bible speak of the Potter and the Clay
Isaiah, asked “shall the pot say to the potter, you made me not?” -
Jeremiah, who was known as the weeping prophet
Zechariah, & Paul also used examples of clay and pottery
Paul, who had such a clear understanding of grace
Jeremiah’s Message of the Potter and the Clay
Told by the Lord to go to the potter’s house
He saw the potter at work, forming a vessel
The scene gave a message for Jeremiah’s time and ours
Body
The Clay
The Clay
What Jeremiah saw when he came to the potter’s house
Vessels of clay stacked for firing or use
Clay stored for making pottery -
so many things that can be made from this clay
bowls and vases, tiles and tools
Clay in the potter’s hand being formed for use
We are all made of the same clay
We are all made of the same clay
All have been created in the image and likeness of God
All are made of the same substance that He has chosen for His glorious image
All have been created with purpose and signifigance
All have been loved by God from the foundation of the world
All have evil hearts and a sinful nature () (the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked)
All have sinned and come short of God’s glory ()
All must give an account to God () (each shall give an account)
All are subject to temptation ()
All must die and should be prepared ()(it is appointed to men once to die..)
The sameness of mankind calls for understanding of others
The sameness of mankind calls for understanding of others
Not to judge by race or face … but in grace
We are all far more alike than we are different
As Eli quoted recently “There is more difference within groups than between groups”
We are so very much alike, in our goodness, and in our frailty.
The Potter
The Potter
“Behold, he wrought a work on the wheels”
Not just a work of chance
The design in the potter’s mind
The vessel rises on the wheel formed by his touch
The potter’s plan is best for this piece of clay - He knows His plan
God has a plan for every life - your life
He knew, when He first breathed life into you
The first part of that plan is salvation
The unfolding of that plan involves full surrender
The fulfilling of that plan reveals the Potter’s work in us
We are His workmanship ()
We are His work of art ()
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
The wheels speak of circumstances … but His hand is upon us
Have you experienced problems you didn’t think you would?
Have you gone through trials you didn’t think you could?
To know the Potter’s heart, you must come to the cross
To know the Potter’s hands you must see them nail-scarred
So He Made It Again
So He Made It Again
The flaw found … unseen by others but known to the potter
With this flaw, the vessel would not be able to fulfill its purpose
perhaps it was a bubble that would leak, or a dent that would wobble
perhaps a thin spot that would break, or another flaw
We don’t know, but it was not what He intended it to be
So He made it again!
The potter makes the vessel again
Doesn’t throw it away
Makes it again of the same clay
Now it pleases the Potter
Conclusion
Are You Fully Surrendered to the Potter’s Design and Touch?
As You Yield, He Will Make You Over Again … as It Pleases Him
