DEALING WITH THE DEVIL
Stacey and I got away Friday and went to a Matinee at the movies and saw the Lion King. And I haven’t seen the Lion King since I was a kid.
All the stories that we tell borrow their power from the Great Story he is telling.
The story begins with the rule of a good King, Mufasa. Who rules his dominion with strength and power? His Kingdom flourishes because of His strength and character. And Mustafa has a young cub named Simba , who, his father reminds him, that one day he would be a ruler.
But the Kingdom was stolen by the evil one. Its glory has been marred. Badly. Now it’s time for the true king to come back and take over. But Simba—the lion heir to the throne—doesn’t believe who he is. His father was murdered when he was young, and the enemy blamed it on Simba. Simba ran away, and after years of losing heart, he winds up living with a wart hog and a meerkat whose highest ambitions in life are breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Then, one night, Simba’s father appears to him in a vision:
MUFASA: Simba.
SIMBA: Father?

SIMBA: How can I go back? I’m not who I used to be.

Simba finally throws off the veil of shame and self-reproach and goes back to take the kingdom that is rightly his. As a result, his glory and the glory of the realm are restored.
This morning I want to remind you of who you are because I am willing to bet that some of you have forgotten. You are not a sum of your experiences, a sum of your failures, rather imagined or real. If you are a child of God all things have be come new. If you are a blood bought child, youa re free, you are brave, as scripture says you are more than a conquerer through him.
When Simba returns he finds that the Kingdom has been overran with darkness, The Evil One has devoured the Land. There is death, and darkness. And this is what it is like today. Because Christians have forgotten who they are. They have bought into the false belief, go along to get along and as a result have allowed darkness to conquer the land today. They have settled in and made comfort king, and because they refuse to embrace discomfort, because they run from any sort of conflict, refuse to bear any sort of cross bearing. What you have is a bunch of overweight flabby Christians who have made peace with sitting on the sideline.
They have forgotten who they are, they go to sleep at the tune of Hakuna matata
Drug addiction is at all time highs, divorce is rampant, child abuse has risen to staggering rates, murder is rampant, pornography is at an epidemic rate/ Darkness has overtaken the Land.
I heard a statistic the other dasy about those that were sentenced to Hitler’s Death camps. Those that gave up hope, gave up their purpose and just lost the will to fight any longer. They just accepted their fate died at a much higher rate than those who did not lose purpose.

Nothing. He wants them to do nothing.
He wants them to sit, soak and sour.
He wants them to debate about things that produce division. He wants them to march to the beat that we are just poor ol sinners saved by grace. And while that at the start is what is true, that is not the end result of salvation.
If you think that the Lord is a pacifist, you need to reread your Bibles. If he was a pacifist, he would have just stayed in heaven.

The Greek Word for Conquer is the Word NIKE- and it means to overpower, to overcome, prevail, triumph, be victorious, sup[remacy, power! It is the symbol for Victory, its the name of victory.
Now its importantn at this point that you cannot Nikaeo in your own power, but Because we have a lion like lamb that Nikao we can Nikao.
And because He has Conquered we can conquer, and God’s Word you you is no more excuses- JUST DO IT!!

He is saying do not forget who you are, and Whose you are. You are twice born people living in a once born world. You are citizens of a heavenly city, walking around in a lost world
FUTILITY OF THEIR MINDS
Futility- useless, empty. That is trying to understand God through our logic or reason.
God chooses the way of the cross… The the Greeks foolishness. trying to understand God His ways, or your circumstance and How God or to what degree God is involved you are always 1000% going to end in a wrong conclusion
MINDS- A WAY OF THINKING
Do you know that if you are in here this morning and you have never come to the foot of the cross, been forgiven of your sins and if you have never recieved the Holy Spirit , the spirit of truth, then you will be a slave to lies.
Trying to understand the God of the Bible through the reason of your mind is futile. It is empty and if you Christian are not arming yourself with truth, then you will begin to believe some horrible things about God.
Apart from the enlighten ment of the holy spirit you are darkneded in your understanding. You will begin to see every horrible thing in your life as if God were responcible.
The Bible says that God is the author of life, not the giver of death! And you will become if you walk in darkness,

18 They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart.

Darkened- to become unable to perceive and thus unable to understand—‘to be incapable of perceiving, to not be able to understand.
Darkened in their Understanding- When you are alienated from the Life of God, when your heart is hardened, and you have twisted theology you are going to believe some pretty horrible things about God

And trying to understand God through the faculties of your lost mind will always 100% lead you to a very wrong conclusion about God. And the devil will capitalize on those lies and keep you bound up with strongholds!
You will be at the mercy of forces you cannot control and cannot possibly understand
Paul through the rest of this chapter commands us through the Lord to put off the old self

These deceitful desires lead to spiritual strongholds that can ravish a persons life. Rather we are admonished to be renewed in our minds

Leading them to destructive habbits that turn to addictions,, lead to depression, rage and anger. They can lead you down some very dark and dangerous paths. And they can lead to demonic bondage.
Can I tell you that a Christian can have demonic bondage in his or her life that will consume them if they are not freed by the grace, power and love of Jesus Christ.
Look at Verse 27-28
27 and give no opportunity to the devil. 28 Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.
26 Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and give no opportunity to the devil.
Now he is speaking to believers here, and He says do not give oppurtunity. The word here in the Greek is the word Topos and it literally means a space, oor area. This is how it works when we have uncoffesed and unrepented sin in our life, it becomes a foothold for the devil. But it doesn’t take much before he begins to work the machinge of lies and deception in your life. It will first begin by paying a little less time to your relationship with the Lord. No longer make him a priority in your life. Begin to put other things in your life to fill that spot. Because remember Jesus said that you are a brach and if a branch doesnt remain in a tree, that branch withers up and dies. Well that branch is Jesus. So you begin to put other things in the Lords spot. You spend your tihte money on things for you. You begin to work on Sundays or chase kids activities or whatever. It doesn’t start off big, the devil knows how to take His time. And then you begin to fall more and more in step with the world. And before you know it God not only takes priority but He is not even in the top ten. Before you know it you are walking in darkness alientated from the life off God. It wasn’t evil things that began to creep in, but
Think of it this way.... I may not be able to climb a wall straight up of solid Ice, but you know give me a pick ax and given enough time ill carve out a ladder out of that ice wall

Then he gives instructions about The godly home. There is order in the home. men are to be the heads of their homes, loving their wives as Christ loved the church. Woman are to love their husbands, being submissive to him in the fear of the Lord. Because God is a God of order and when there is no order there will only be disorder. That is there will only be chaos.
Hardness- Stubbornness. unwilling to Learn
BE RENEWED IN YOUR MINDS!
As a man thinketh So is he- The devil want to control the way that we think. Because he understand that the mind is the control center of the mind
Children are to obey their parents, to honor and obey their parents in the Lord for this is right....
And Paul lays out this order because there are dark vicious, malevolent forces that want to create disorder. And if you say I don’t care what the word of God says my husband is a fool and I am not going to submit, and you have children that you encourage disobedience in order to win a fight because you think that majority rules, well what you are really saying is, devil come on in and make yourself right at home. And once hes invite he will bring misery and ruin with him.
Become Callous- To lose feeling
Given themselves up to Sensuality- Debauchery- Licentiousness....
MESSAGE TO FATHERS- sPEAKING TO THE DADS THAT ARE LIVING UNSAVED OR IN CARNALITY- YOU ARE GOING TO RAISE CHILDREN THAT ARE DARKENED IN THEIR UNDERSTAND. CARRYING ON THE FAMILY CURSES AND IN A WORLD THAT GLORIFIES SIN
You will be at the mercy of forces you cannot control and cannot possibly understand
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Now lets deal with
1, Good news God has given you and I victory over all the power of the enemy. He is a defeated foe, but that doesn’t mean He is a harmless foe.
Do you know that even thought he devil loves chaos, He has an army that is not in chaos. Do you see the word for schemes? THis is the word that we get our word methods, or wiles. Do you know that Satan is Milatarized, engergied and mobilized to make ruin of your life. He wants to create trails that lead straight to your home and wages war right at your heart.
We are not wrestling with silly little comic book devils...., Notice how he describes the Fallen beings.... Rulers- This speaks of regions. There are dark forces over nations. Demons so powerful and persuasive that they have the hearts of kings in their hands… Do you want to know why it is that we are just simply not able to get along with some countries of the world? Why is it that some countries seem so hell meant on destruction. Why there can’t be simple peace. Its because the Devil is a devil of war and his demons below Him are demons of war.These rulers are the ones that are calling the shots, the systematicv destruction of nations. They do it through lies, through sin, and violence,. Sometimes they will even cloak themselves in Light
I believe that is what is happenening in America today. Do you know that the Bible says that Satan cloaks himself as an angel of Light. Do you know that the devil has ministers right now that seem so pious, so righteouss, so meek and mild and words like butter flow out of their m,outh that people take them hook line and sinker. Do you know that there is a different Jesus that people can recieve, a different gospel , a different spirit. Now the Jesus they recieve, is a demon impersinatint Jesus, the Spirit they recieve isn’t the Holy Spirit, and the Words and directions they are given by that Spirit are not of the Holy Spirit, and the Gopsel they6 recieve is not the Gopsel of The Lord Jesus Christ.

i have seen these impersonating spirit many times in my ministry. I have seen people that at first deceived me because they seemed so spiritual, and in a moments notice they spew out some of the most wicked and vile things that you would ever hear. el
Authorities- This would be your regional rulers. Do you know that even here in America there are some hot spots for the greatest wickedness. Like in Holywood, California, New York..,… Where the things that are being preached politically is so vile so wicked, that you think, its just bizarre. Why abortion is allowed to continue. Even when organizations like planned parenthood have been caught red handed selling baby parts, why? Because the abortion industry is protected by demons. Te sex trade, protected by demons. The drug trade is being protected by demons. Because those are big business items that they can quickly destroy humans at a factory lev
Cosmic Rulers- these are the world rulers, with the devil himself being at the top of the food chain. But listen there are certain demons so powerful, so malevaelnt that God in His mercy haws bound some of them up in the abyss.
Spiritual Forces- And this is why human weapons are useless in these matters. Because it is a spiritual army, and they are focused, on destruction, They are not living in faith, they were cast down out of heaven, They know without a shadow of a doubt that God exists. And when they sided with the one calleed Satan and they were cast out of heaven, they know that their days are numbered. So hwat are they doing? They are at an all out war with humanity.
Conclusion
But let me give you some good new Satan is powerful, but the Lord Jesus Christ is all powerful. Satan has some authority, but Jesus has all authority.
He is the King of Kings. the One Supreme commander. And for every demon God still has two angels. He is defeated by Calvary, he is outnumbered by the heavenly hosts, and God will bring his head down to a fiery hell where he will be doomed forever. Just don’t follow him there!

It goes from, I really messed up to You are a terrible person. And we just begin to live under that type of condemnation
Story of Stacey with Gage- Now I want you too know that God really knew what he was doing when he paired me with my wife. She took on a single dad with a young, rambunctious free-spirited little boy. And it is never an ending battle with her feeling like she completely messes up with him. There have been countless conflicts in the last 14 years, and we have learned to identify when Satan gets involved with our family affairs. With my wife it goes from just dealing with a 17-year-old. And the silly things to all of a sudden there is a spark that ignites a burning flame out of no wear. And you know it’s the enemy when all of a sudden, the flame is coming with a barrage of lies. Jesus said that Satan is the Father of Lies.
Its like that in our marriages when a silly little spat can blow up and then thoughts of betrayal or infidelity come into play. Or thoughts like I would just be better alone, or an old boyfriend or girlfriend all of a sudden comes into play
Many times the things that people are dealing with in counseling sessions that take years and years to work is simply lies that we have made with an enemy through could e dealt with in an instance if they
The enemy smells our woundedness, and like sharks that smell blood the enemy comes in like a flood. All of a sudden betrayal from God feels true. And the attack is designed to attack our faith
Any movement toward freedom will be opposed

Now, a lot of people would not know the difference because these people said, “We believe in Jesus.” I said, “Let’s talk about what Jesus you believe in.” Now, look at it here—“if he … preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received”—don’t get the idea that everything that is spiritual is of God. My dear friend, the Bible speaks of “spiritual wickedness in high places,” (Ephesians 6:12) and the Bible says, “Believe not every spirit, but [test] the spirits whether they [be] of God” (1 John 4:1)—“or another gospel, which ye have not accepted.” (2 Corinthians 11:4) There are a lot of people who say that they’re preaching the gospel of Jesus, but they are not preaching the true gospel; they’re preaching the devil’s gospel. You see how subtle the devil is. The devil doesn’t say, “Don’t believe in Jesus.” The devil doesn’t say, “Have nothing to do with the Holy Spirit.” The devil doesn’t say, “I’m against the gospel.” All he does is just give you another Jesus, another spirit, and another gospel. Pretty good, huh? Do you see what he’s doing? Do you understand his subtlety? You see, dear friend, he is a crafty liar.

Conclusion
Have you met Christ? Jesus Christ is more real to me this morning than Tom Clayton sitting over there. That’s right. I’m not exaggerating. Christ is real. Is He real to you? Does God’s Spirit bear witness with your spirit that you are a child of God? You see, now I don’t mean just tacking Christ onto your life.
You know, the old-time pagans, they used to have different gods in their life, whatever they wanted. Now, if they wanted the flowers to bloom and have a nice crop, they had a fertility god, and they would burn incense to their fertility god. And if they wanted the sun to shine, they had a sun god, and they worshipped that. If they wanted rain, they had a rain god, and they worshipped him. Different gods. You know, today, somebody will have a stock market god, and this kind of a god, and that kind of a god. They would worship their gods. And they had these gods in little niches there in the house.
And when the Romans took over that ancient world, they didn’t tell these folks, “You can’t have these gods anymore.” They were too smart for that. They didn’t want to start a holy war. They said, “Bring your gods and come on. But remember that Caesar is lord. Caesar is lord. So, if you want to have all your religions, just have at it.” And so they even built a building called the Pantheon for all the gods—a little niche for this god, a little niche for that god. And these Christians came along, and they said, “Christ is Lord.” And they said, “Well, yeah, that’s fine. If you want your god, if you want Jesus, that’s fine. We’ll make Him one more. Let’s see, we’ll call Him … Well, He’ll be the Jesus God. And we’ll put Him here, and we’ll put the sun god here, and the rain god here, and the fertility god here.” “No, no, no, no, no! He’s not just one of the gods. And, many a man who is an agent of the devil himself has some sort of a Doctor of Divinity degree or something after his name, and he’s called “reverend.” The great danger today is not the denial of the gospel of Christ; it is the corruption of the gospel of Christ. Paul said, “I fear, lest … your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity [that’s] in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 11:3) And, how’s it done? By subtlety.

And it is never an ending battle with her feeling like she completely messes up with him. There have been countless conflicts in the last 14 years, and we have learned to identify when Satan gets involved with our family affairs. With my wife it goes from just dealing with a 17-year-old. And the silly things to all of a sudden there is a spark that ignites a burning flame out of no wear. And you know it’s the enemy when all of a sudden, the flame is coming with a barrage of lies.
