INTRODUCTION
Times change. Today's "new" is tomorrow's "old," this morning's breakthrough is this afternoon's castaway, this year's popular is lost in next year's "latest." The up-to-date is soon out-of-date.
Businesses must change with the times to stay relevant and profitable
TRUTH DOESN’T CHANGE
It reads the same today as yesterday and it will tomorrow
Jude 3 ESV
Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.
Some feel they’ve outgrown the Gospel
The whole concept of absolute truth is, to some obsolete
Have to change with the times
Concepts of sin and death are very unpopular
In the Post-modern era some feel they don’t need the Gospel anymore
Has man Outgrown the Gospel - Not unless he has found another food for the soul.

Food and Nourishment

Metaphors and Analogies (explain)
What Nourishes the Spirit

1. The Word of God alone is the only Spiritual Food that Truly Satisfies!

Other things offer temporary fulfillment, but in the end are not truly satisfying.
Matthew 5:6 ESV
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
John 6:35 ESV
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.

2. The Word of God is the only Spiritual Food for the Babe and the Mature!

Heb 5:12-14
Hebrews 5:12–14 ESV
For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.

1 Peter 2:2 ESV
Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation—

3. The Word of God can be both Sweet and Bitter

Revelation 10:10 ESV
And I took the little scroll from the hand of the angel and ate it. It was sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it my stomach was made bitter.
Rev 10:10
Some folk begin the study of God’s word with enthusiasm, but when they find that it is applicable to their life and that it makes demands on them personally, they lose interest, and it becomes a bitter thing.
But the very same word that seems bitter Will be sweet (and stay sweet) again!
Heb
Hebrews 12:11 ESV
For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

4. The Word of God is the Only Spiritual Food that will give you Eternal Life

John 6:27 ESV
Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.”
