Mans heart is not good

What makes a man change from who he is to someone else?

Reflecting on Saul this morning. He started as so humble, hopeful, and obedient to God. He ended up proud, paranoid, hateful, and disobedient to God. It also happened in a matter of hours when he got impatient. It can all slip away so quickly.

- handsome, taller. According to the world this should be what we care about first about someone.

- God gave Saul a new heart

- Saul holds his peace

- was a great king to protect the people

Turning point in Saul

- Saul made wrong choice and he allowed it to affect his heart.

- Saul didn’t listen to what the Lord commanded. The Lord

Turning point in Saul

- Saul made wrong choice and he allowed it to affect his heart.

- Saul didn’t listen to what the Lord commanded. The Lord turns against Saul. Saul choice to make himself look good instead of honoring the Lord. Verse 30

- Saul anger burns with hate

Saul tried everything to kill David. He had a heart of jealousy, envy, hate.

Saul allowed that to eat up everything about him to chase after David.

And in the end, Saul ended up empty, lost, and nothing.

Heart of man

- The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?

- For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.

Our heart has to be changed by the Lord to do right and good.

- Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

- And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
