INTRODUCTION

Today we are here for the ordination of a servant of the Lord.
His name will be changed from elder/ Pastor to Bishop.
But ordination is not just bestowing / receiving A title. A title to be formally stated or recognise, to be highly esteemed or regarded. To have a sense of pride of achieving or arriving.
But it is being set-apart into a divine office that carries a specific role and function in the kingdom.
To be ordained is to come under a new mantle that brings with it Access, Ability, Authority, and Responsibility.
Mark 3:13–15 KJV 1900
And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him. And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:
Mark
Ordain - gk ‘poieo’ - To appoint/install or to put in a certain place or condition.
Notice that Jesus called them away from the rest of the crowd. He specially hand picked those He would ordained. Though they where many disciples (Pupil) these where to be ordained into the office of the Apostles.
WHY WHERE THEY ORDAINED?
“That they should be with Him” - (1) ACCESS
The office brings a certain king of access - Eg. Access to the temple (court yard, Holy place, Holies of holies)
Access - greater level of communication, access to information & Revelation.
Caiaphas prophisies -
John 11:49–51 ESV
But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all. Nor do you understand that it is better for you that one man should die for the people, not that the whole nation should perish.” He did not say this of his own accord, but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation,
Jn 11:49-51
"That they maybe in service to Him” - (2) SERVICE
Service not to man’s desires but to what God requires.
Many have become seeker sensitive - “to scratch where people itch” - hence we seek to please man by introducing certain things in christian worship. But our focuss should be on pleasing God, following His instructions, doing it His Way.
Eg. King Saul - lost the anointing because he saught to please people rather than God.
"That they maybe empowered by Him” - (3) POWER
Power - gk ‘exoucia’ (εξουσια) - The right / Authority - The ability to rule over, to command, to have jurisdiction/dominion. It is the Right to execute Judgement over the enimy.
God is calling us to exercise authory over the relm of the earth.
Jesus said it is finished
The Judgement has been handed down.
John 12:31 KJV 1900
Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
John 12:31 KJV 1900Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
Now (gk. “nun” ) - Immediate moment or present period of time.It is for us to execute the judgement or sentence. “Sit at my right hand....Mat 22:44”“Rom 8:19 - Earth waits for the manifestation....”All power (Authority) is given unto me ..... Go.... Mat 28:18
