You should have known better.
You should have known better.
A couple weeks ago I have five or six guys that went to training in Mississippi. While they were there two of them, both SWAT guys showed their butt. They thought they knew more than the instructor and instead to keeping an open mind to the training, they didn’t think they needed it and so they started complaining and arguing and were acting like jerks.
One of them was a fairly new officer, a young guy. The other one was his supervisor.
I didn’t even address the issue with the officer. I dealt with the officer.
Not only do you know better, but look how you influence your officer.
He has been the instructor that had a bad student.
It’s a
When he looked at it from that perspective, it sunk in. It changed his heart.

26 “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
Ezekiel
Did you know you have the power to change your heart rate?

This morning were are going to be looking at the change of heart that God allows us to make through Christ. We will also examine how the decision making process works, and how we can make better decisions.
1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
5 Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.
6 For it is because of these things that the wrath of God will come upon the sons of disobedience,
7 and in them you also once walked, when you were living in them.
8 But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth.
9 Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices,
10 and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him—
11 a renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and freeman, but Christ is all, and in all.
12 So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;
13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.
14 Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.
16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
17 Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

Colossians
2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
1 Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,

We allow our selves to become disoriented.

Put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
1 And working together with Him, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain—
2 for He says,
“At the acceptable time I listened to you,
And on the day of salvation I helped you.”
Behold, now is “the acceptable time,” behold, now is “the day of salvation”—
3 giving no cause for offense in anything, so that the ministry will not be discredited,
4 but in everything commending ourselves as servants of God, in much endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in distresses,
5 in beatings, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in sleeplessness, in hunger,
6 in purity, in knowledge, in patience, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in genuine love,
7 in the word of truth, in the power of God; by the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left,
2 Corinthians 6:1-
It doesn’t matter what is happening in the world, or in your own deceitful heart. It doesn’t matter what your going through or what you are feeling.
You have the Holy Spirit living inside you and the power of God in Christ Jesus at your finger tips and if you would submit to Him for just a second; not only would we not have the strife in our lives, we would see lives changed, through our obedience and His Power.

If you don’t take the time to see things from someone else’s perspective, you can’t act with their best interest in mind.
Walk a mile in his moccasins. Poem 1895 “Judge Softly”
“Pray, don’t find fault with the man that limps,
Or stumbles along the road.
Unless you have worn the moccasins he wears,
Or stumbled beneath the same load.”
Forgive each other.
forgive each other for not forgiving.
Just as Christ forgave you.
34 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
35 “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
John 13:
You are your brother’s keeper
You are your brother’s keeper
9 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” And he said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?”
16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
Colossians 3:
17 Iron sharpens iron,
So one man sharpens another.
