Captain America

This corrector in the comics and most recently on the big screen, has a interesting beginning. In the movies he was this scroney little fellow that couldn't do anything but, he had heart! although no one liked at him as a hero, little did he even know that a great power was locked inside this little man.

Desmond Doss
has a similar story, he was in world war II. He was what they call a conscientious objector and while he was in training his leaders found out he refused to carry any kind of weapon. they seen him as a trouble maker and tried every way to get him to quit but, he had his heart set to be a medic. he eventually became one and is known for his bravery in battle as he saved many lives he never did pick up any kind of weapon with intent on harming another human being. no one would of ever seen him as a hero. but, God knew he was!
1 Samuel 16:1-5
1 Samuel 16:1–5 KJV 1900
1 And the Lord said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Beth-lehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons. 2 And Samuel said, How can I go? if Saul hear it, he will kill me. And the Lord said, Take an heifer with thee, and say, I am come to sacrifice to the Lord. 3 And call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will shew thee what thou shalt do: and thou shalt anoint unto me him whom I name unto thee. 4 And Samuel did that which the Lord spake, and came to Beth-lehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, Comest thou peaceably? 5 And he said, Peaceably: I am come to sacrifice unto the Lord: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.
God is done with King Saul so, He tells Samuel to take a trip to Bethlehem and he is to choose a king from the sons of Jesse.
This command from God scares Samuel as this is a direct assault against the throne of Saul and he is not going to take this lightly.
so God tells him to take a bull and go to sacrifice.
when he arrives in Bethlehem it scares the people. typically a visit from a judge is not a good thing and they fear God’s judgment. he tells them that his visit is peaceful and to prepare for a sacrifice!
1 Samuel 16:6-
1 Samuel 16:6–11 KJV 1900
6 And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the Lord’s anointed is before him. 7 But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart. 8 Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, Neither hath the Lord chosen this. 9 Then Jesse made Shammah to pass by. And he said, Neither hath the Lord chosen this. 10 Again, Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said unto Jesse, The Lord hath not chosen these. 11 And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.
When Samuel’s eyes fall on Eliab and he sees that he is a big man and looks to be fit for a King, he thinks to himself Wow this is surely King material!
God begins to speak to him and tells him not to judge someone by there appearance.
God always looks beyond outer appearance straight to the heart!
He sees us for who we are not for who we want people to think we are!
who are you in God’s eyes?
For a brief moment Samuel almost made the same mistake that was made with King Saul.
Saul was a more than capable from human eyes as being a fit King! We make these same mistakes when we start thinking with our fleshly eyes and start taking it upon our selves to determine what is good in our own eyes! this is a critical mistake that people have done in the past and are still doing today.
we need to trust God’s process.
1 Samuel 16:12–13 KJV 1900
12 And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the Lord said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he. 13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.
When David shows up God speaks to Samuel and tells him this is the Man that you have been waiting for. he was not at all a bad looking man however, in his families eyes he wasn't even worthy to come to the sacrifice meal and be in the presence of one of God’s chosen Men.
samuel 16:12-13
He was out in the fields tending the flocks.
Throughout the Bible we see that God in most cases picks the ones that we would discard as not being capable of doing the task!
This young man standing before him was to be the best king that Israel has ever seen besides Jesus himself!
Always trust the process!
God is doing some amazing things in churches that most would think are not capable of doing God’s work!
He is working his plan out and all we have to do is listen and follow when he speaks.
Pay attention when he opens doors to do his work!
Just like Captain America
Just like Desmond Doss
Even when the world might not see it at the time, your own family might not see it, you might not see it but, God is working on the hero inside of you to do something amazing for him!
Trust the process!
