Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? 17 “So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 “A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. 19 “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 “So then, you will know them by their fruits.

How do we pick out a false teacher.

“False prophets” does not only mean false preachers who proclaim a false gospel, but primarily false professors of faith in Christ. Their inward nature has not changed (see 2 Peter 1:4); they merely wear the outward guise of a sheep. They call Christ “Lord” and even do religious deeds, but they have not been saved! How do we detect these false believers? “You will know them by their fruits” (v. 16, NKJV).

INSPECT THE FRUIT.
How do we pick out a false teacher.
Principle. - Profession should match our produce.
Principle. - Profession should match your produce.
Character should match our conduct.
Two ways. - Broad Path - Narrow Way - Enter the narrow way through the narrow gate-his name is Jesus. When we enter the narrow gate it puts on on the narrow way.
Two Trees
Matthew 7:16 NASB95
16 “You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?
Mt
Matthew 7:17 NASB95
17 “So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.
A fruit tree produces fruit.
PIC OF TREE - This is a _______ tree… tell by its bark, by its shape.. me, I am an expert when the fruit is on the vine.
So much information…
Just because someone uses Christian words, doesn’t mean that they are sharing Biblical Truth.
The type of tree is revealed by its fruit.
Fruit is produced as the life of the tree is pressed through the branches…
John 15:5 NASB95
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.
Fruit is produced naturally. - as Jesus lives through us…
The nature of the tree is revealed by the fruit it produces…

Ephesians 2:1–3 NASB95
1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. 3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.
Your fruit matches the root.
The nature of the tree is revealed by the fruit it produces…
The only way to change the fruit is to change the nature of the tree! To be made alive in Christ.
Measure Everything against the Word.
Ephesians 2:4–5 NASB95
4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
2 Peter 1:4 NASB95
4 For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.
2 pet 1:3
Examine our fruit. Make sure we are connected to the vine…
Beware of False teachers… by their fruit you will know them.
Satan is the counterfeiter. . . . He has a false gospel (), preached by false ministers (-12), producing false Christians (). . . . Satan plants his counterfeits wherever God plants true believers ().

Akin, Daniel L
A battle is indeed raging for the hearts, the minds, and the souls of men and women. Be a good soldier of Christ and the cross, of that which is true and that which is right. Test the spirits, confess Christ as Lord, trust the Holy Spirit who is within, and stay latched to the Word. Here is your strength. Here is your safety. Here is your salvation.
Akin, Daniel L
Word Test - Does what they are saying line up with the Word?
Message All about you or all about Jesus.
Walk Test - Is their walk consistent with their talk? Has their life been changed by the Gospel?
Devote your life to the study of the WORD.
Demonstrate a life of obedience to the WORD.
Decide what influences you by measuring against the WORD.

Google and Podcasts not the answer. Good things in the midst. Know what other people say about the scriptures than what the scriptures say. More resources than every before. More opportunity for good and bad.
All are bearing some kind of fruit.
