How do we pick out a false teacher.
“False prophets” does not only mean false preachers who proclaim a false gospel, but primarily false professors of faith in Christ. Their inward nature has not changed (see 2 Peter 1:4); they merely wear the outward guise of a sheep. They call Christ “Lord” and even do religious deeds, but they have not been saved! How do we detect these false believers? “You will know them by their fruits” (v. 16, NKJV).

Fruit is produced as the life of the tree is pressed through the branches…

The only way to change the fruit is to change the nature of the tree! To be made alive in Christ.
Measure Everything against the Word.

Examine our fruit. Make sure we are connected to the vine…
Beware of False teachers… by their fruit you will know them.
Satan is the counterfeiter. . . . He has a false gospel (), preached by false ministers (-12), producing false Christians (). . . . Satan plants his counterfeits wherever God plants true believers ().

A battle is indeed raging for the hearts, the minds, and the souls of men and women. Be a good soldier of Christ and the cross, of that which is true and that which is right. Test the spirits, confess Christ as Lord, trust the Holy Spirit who is within, and stay latched to the Word. Here is your strength. Here is your safety. Here is your salvation.

Word Test - Does what they are saying line up with the Word?
Message All about you or all about Jesus.
Walk Test - Is their walk consistent with their talk? Has their life been changed by the Gospel?
Devote your life to the study of the WORD.
Demonstrate a life of obedience to the WORD.
Decide what influences you by measuring against the WORD.
