Weakness Shows His His Power

2 Cor 12:9
2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV
9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
We boast in weakness because:
Weakness shows Jesus’ strength
“...power is made perfect in weakness.”
Weakness invites Jesus’ power
“… so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
Weakness is a source of joy
“… all the more gladly ...”
When have you felt weak? How could you have trusted Jesus with that weakness?
What prevents us from rejoicing in weakness?

Weakness Can Bring Contentment

Philippians 4:10–13
Philippians 4:10–13 ESV
10 I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. 11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
When we overcome challenges through the power of Jesus, we learn not to fear moments of weakness.
Paul learned to face every challenge by relying on Jesus’ power. This led to contentment.
Paul uses the same Greek word in verse 13 in another passage which teaches us ...
In what area of your life are you struggling with contentment?
What are some practical ways you could rely on Jesus’ strength in this area?

Weakness Results in Grace

2 Tim 2:1
2 Timothy 2:1 ESV
1 You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus,
Timothy had a huge task before him. Paul told him the source of his power was the grace of Jesus.
When we are accept our weakness, we invite God’s grace to do great things through us.
In what areas are you trying to succeed in your own strength?
Paul encourages Timothy in this verse. Who in your life needs to be reminded that true strength comes through God’s grace?
