Psalm 117 is the shortest of the Psalms, shortest chapter in the Scriptures, YET… it expresses a TRUTH that is powerful and holds great implication and impact regardless of generation, people group, or culture you come from!
Psalm 117 NASB95
Praise the Lord, all nations; Laud Him, all peoples! For His lovingkindness is great toward us, And the truth of the Lord is everlasting. Praise the Lord!
This is a Psalm of praise! Recalling the provision of the Abrahamic covenant of blessing through Israel to all other nations of the world.
The Moody Bible Commentary Psalms 113–118: The Hallel Psalms
In very early Jewish tradition these six psalms are known collectively as Hallel psalms (“The Praise”), because of the Hallelujah! (“Praise the Lord”) endings… . This Hallel reading tradition was already established by the NT period as a fixed part of the Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles celebrations.
Our Psalm today is the Second to last of these six Psalms. PRAISE exudes from this Psalm! Begins and ends with “HALLELUJAH!” praise the Lord!
NOTICE: ALL nations, ALL peoples
This is not just for Israel...
This is not just for Christians...
God desires ALL to praise Him
He is deserving
LAUD HIM!...
Applaud Him...
Declare and praise His greatness
Worship
These things draw the world around us into a Praise/Worship of Him!

The Truth…Everlasting
What is TRUTH?
God’s Word… 2 Timothy 2:15
2 Timothy 2:15 NASB95
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.
Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh! John 14:6
John 14:6 NASB95
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
God’s Word, Jesus Christ are everlasting!
Remember what Jesus states in Luke 21:33
Luke 21:33 NASB95
“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.
WHY because He is everlasting!
The Psalmist as he considers this God we have has to proclaim again “Hallelujah” Praise The Lord!
The OBJECT of this praise is SINGULAR= GOD
The SOURCE of this praise is PLURAL= ALL PEOPLES
Isaiah declares this one day will be the case of ALL
Romans 14:11 Paul declares this will be the case whether you do it now or standing before God.
Romans 14:11 NASB95
For it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall give praise to God.”
Let’s Praise Him now and use that praise as an opportunity to draw ALL to Jesus Christ! Praise the Lord!
