Introduction:
What happens when a Christian sins?
We feel guilty
Defined - Feeling responsible or regretful for a perceived offense, real or imaginary
We all feel this way at times. It’s a natural response to living life. It’s a good things
If you never feel guilty you are a ____________________________________
It’s a gift God has given you
God uses guilt to help us live for him and follow his purpose.
It’s one of the ways God speaks to us.
But it is also a tool powerful tool of the Devil
Let’s review - How do I know God is speaking to me?
1. Does it agree with the bible?
2. Does the church confirm it?
3. Does it make me more like Christ?
4. Does it agree with my SHAPE?
5. Is it my area of responsibility?
6. Does it convict or condemn?

An example of conviction
You have some road rage and you give the guy the finger
But you have a bumper sticker saying “Jesus is my Co-pilot”
What does God do?
His Holy Spirit brings a reminder your heart
He’ll remind you from your quiet time
10 We ask this so that you will live the kind of lives that prove you belong to the Lord. Then you will want to please him in every way as you grow in producing every kind of good work by this knowledge about God.
That’s God speaking
How do you respond?
With confession
Simple pray of forgiveness
With repentance
A “change” of heart - mind - attitude
It this the kind of fruit I want to produce in my life?
You then grow in character
God uses that sin to help you mature
God is more interested in you character than your comfort

What does Satan do
It was Satan brought the temptation in the first place
Understand this about Satan
He hates you
He will lie to you
He wants you to fail
He brings condemnation
He uses guilt also
“Satan is the accuser of believers.” Revelation 12:10
But different what God does
How Satan works
Go ahead and sin everyone is doing it
When you sin - then he will say how can you show your face
You’re worthless
Parents do this spouses does this preachers do this bosses do this
They are all being used by satan
Check out this verse
1 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.

No we have reached the goal of godly living but we are on the right path
Yes we need correcting
But God is not going to forsake us.

Conviction is specific
Conviction comes from God
He gives to us to correct us.
He does it to correct us because he loves us.
Little Johnny smacks his sister - What do you say as parent? - Don’t smack your sister
Why do you correct little Johnny - You want to develop his character
God is developing your character
When you flipped the other driver off
The Holy Spirit says hey you know better
And immediately
You feel guilty - confess - repent - learn - grow
Underline each one
I correct and discipline everyone I love. Take this seriously, and change the way you think and act. Revelation 3:19

Condemnation is general
Condemnation is like this dark cloud of guilt
It comes from Satan
It’s general, it’s vague, it never goes away
That always comes from Satan
You are not worthless you are loved
Yes we need correcting
But God is not going to forsake us.
You are His child
