Our Purpose- Part 1

What is Purpose?

Dictionary Definition- the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.

A Working Definition - The common thread throughout your life found in everything you do & without which, there would be no reason for you to exist.

A condensed understanding - “I Exist _________________.”

Being & doing anything other than what we were created for (our purpose) will lead to feelings of hollowness & obsolescence.

The World says that you can be anything you want to be.

You can do and be anything you want, BUT ONLY fulfilling your purpose will bring you fulfillment in life!

Where Does Purpose Come From?

Purpose does not come from what we DO.

Purpose is an essential element of WHO we ARE!

Every human being has a God-designed, God-given, God-empowered purpose (whether saved or unsaved)

Jer

Jeremiah 29:11 KJV 1900

11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Adam and Eve had a Purpose

Genesis 1:28 NKJV

28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

God’s command & purpose for Adam extended to Eve because they were one flesh - This may be interesting to consider for married couples

As children of God, Adam & Eve’s purpose is ALSO OUR purpose because God doesn’t change His mind regarding the purpose of His creation

Jesus had a Purpose

Matthew 1:21 NKJV

21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

Jesus=Jehovah-saved

John 3:16 NKJV

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

This also meant that WHOSOEVER had to become HIS PEOPLE in order for Him to save them from their sins.

Luke 19:10 NKJV

10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Luke 5:32 NKJV

32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

Matthew 15:24 NKJV

24 But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

1 John 3:8 NKJV

8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

Jeremiah had a purpose

Jeremiah 1:5 NKJV

5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

YOU have a purpose

Ecclesiastes 3:1 NKJV

1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:

The Ark Christian Church Has a Purpose

To the glory of God, we exist to serve by showing The Way!

Every choice you make takes you toward your purpose or away from your purpose.

For this reason, we check all of our activities against the litmus test of our purpose

Your Purpose is Tied up with The Ark

Psalm 68:6 NKJV

6 God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; But the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

1 Corinthians 12:18 NKJV

18 But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased.

eph

Ephesians 4:15 NKJV

15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—

God knows exactly where He wants us placed in His body.

God knew the exact purpose He placed upon the existence of The Ark Christian Church

If God placed you here, He intended for you to be a part of and participate in the purpose of The Ark Christian Church - not merely be an attender

Just One Thing:

Live in the center of your God-given purpose this week!

Pray and ask God to reveal it to you
