Detours & Destinations

In our current culture, we are finding a falling away from a foundational trait called faithfulness...

I was reading a recent article about destination weddings - They are definitely on the rise with the current generation who are choosing to at least get married...

They say that at a minimum, 1 in 10 marriages are destination weddings… that’s unbelievable...

I’m all for weddings and vacations, but I could not begin to attend all of the weddings I am invited to let alone the ones that are “destination weddings”...

But as I read the article, this couple planned their destination wedding in Cuba…

All was well - the destination, the details, the beauty of the ceremony… everything was perfect...

until… infidelity enters the relationship, and before the 1st anniversary, the couple who was so excited about saying “I Do” was even more excited to say “I Don’t”...

When they went to get divorced, this Cuban destination wedding turned into a “destination disaster”

You had to go back to Cuba and in person go to court to file the divorce papers… (I wonder if they sat together when they flew back for the court date)...

This destination took some detours that led to disaster...

Today, we are celebrating the 45th Anniversary of Bethel Baptist Church....

Along the way, there have been many things that could have turned this desire off track...

They would be called detours...

Some reports say that approx 2-300 churches a week are closing in the US every week
