Scholars believe may be referring to God protecting Israel in the desert to the promised land. We can have the same protection by making the Lord our God, our special COVERING, if we seek His guidance and obey.

(Illustration) Insurance company promises that you are in good hands! It means that most of your damage expenses are COVERED if you are in a car accident.

God promised to set Israel free from Egyptian slavery. He required them to sacrifice an unblemished lamb and COVER their doorposts with the blood. The death angel would PASS OVER every home that showed obedience and trust by COVERING the blood of the Lamb on their doorposts.

Moses prayed to the Lord that he would not lead Israel to the promised land unless God COVERED them with His Presence. God’s presence was demonstrated by a pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night. God led His people through the desert to the promised land as He promised by COVERING them with His Presence.

HE IS OUR COVERING BY HIS PRESENCE

HE IS ALMIGHTY GOD. (91:1-2)

HE IS OUR REFUGE, A SHELTER (91:2)

HE IS OUR DELIVERER. (91:3)

(1) He will deliver you in this natural life.

(2) He is our Deliverer from demonic attack in our Spiritual Life.

HE IS OUR PROTECTOR (91:4)

He will hide you in the secret place of His Presence. “You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion (or shelter) from the strife of tongues.” . He loves you with such great tenderness and affection that the Psalmist compares God’s protection to that of a hen gathering her chicks under her wings. Jesus sat on the mountain top overlooking the beautiful city of Jerusalem and cried this prayer, “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!” He is like a shadow of a bird’s wing. He covers you with his protection against the wind, the rain, the danger. He is our fortress or hiding place. He is our protection as well as our comfort.

HE IS ALL TRUTH (91:4)

The very words of God, written and recorded by His faithful followers, “holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” . His WORD is Truth that protect your body and soul from enemy attack.

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” ,

“How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.”

He is our covering by His Presence

He is the Most High

He is Almighty God

He is our Refuge and Shelter

He is our Deliverer both in the natural life and the spiritual life

He is our Protector

He is All Truth.

Therefore, I can completely depend on Him. I am at rest and completely secure.
