16 - All People That on Earth Do Dwell
16 - All People That on Earth Do Dwell

What is conversion?

First Point:
2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
A complete conversion
of our
character
desires
intersts

How does it work?

In truth,
somewhat a miracle.
When Nicodemus asked
“How can a man be born again…?
Jesus said:
John 3:4 NKJV
Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
John 3:8 ESV
The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
The miracle
kinda like
works kinda like
the wind...
Wind
can’t see it
but you can
In truth,
see His effects
somewhat a miracle.
He
re-creates the soul
into the image of God.
If the heart has been renewed by the Spirit of God, the life will bear witness to the fact.
It is a miracle
because we
cannot do this.
The Spirit changes
the character,
the habits,
the pursuits.

How can I know if I’m converted?

How can I know if I’m converted?

Matthew 7:16 ESV
You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
Judge them by their fruits
What fruits?
Fruit of the Spirit:
Galatians 5:22–23 ESV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
What do the fruits on your tree look like?
The character is revealed, not by occasional good deeds and occasional misdeeds, but by the tendency of the habitual words and acts.
At times
the desire to be liked
can masqerade as
piety
But over time
it will become clear.
At home.
By what means, then, shall we determine whose side we are on? Who has the heart? With whom are our thoughts? Of whom do we love to converse? Who has our warmest affections and our best energies? If we are Christ’s, our thoughts are with Him, and our sweetest thoughts are of Him. All we have and are is consecrated to Him. We long to bear His image, breathe His spirit, do His will, and please Him in all things.
How can we know
if we are converted?
Jesus is center of our lives.
Our character changes.
1 John 3:3 ESV
And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.
1 John 3:3 (NKJV): 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
The proud and self-assertive become meek and lowly in heart. The vain and supercilious become serious and unobtrusive. The drunken become sober, and the profligate pure.
again
There is no evidence of genuine repentance unless it works reformation… [then] the sinner may be sure that he has passed from death unto life.
The things we hated
we now love
The things we loved
we now hate.
The character of Jesus
will be seen in
all His followers!
We are not
naturally loving.
Love is found
only in the heart
where Jesus reigns.
1 John 4:19 ESV
We love because he first loved us.
But many have
an inaccruage view of
love.
Love,
in our society
is tollerance.
Encouraging others
to do as they please.
This is not
bilical love.
John 14:15 ESV
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
Love is proven
through actions.
In the heart renewed by divine grace, love is the principle of action. It modifies the character, governs the impulses, controls the passions, subdues enmity, and ennobles the affections.
Say I love My wife
but act different.
Two Errors
Salvation by Works
Salvation without Works

Obedience is the Service of Love

service of love
The law is:
character of God
foundation of government
We we are renewed...
love is implated in the heart
Law is fulfilled in us.

I’m a New Covenant Christian

Hebrews 10:16 ESV
“This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds,”
Obedience—the service and allegiance of love—is the true sign of discipleship.
1 John 5:3 ESV
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.
Instead of releasing man from obedience, it is faith, and faith only, that makes us partakers of the grace of Christ, which enables us to render obedience.
1 John 3:5 ESV
You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin.
Here is the true test. If we abide in Christ, if the love of God dwells in us, our feelings, our thoughts, our purposes, our actions, will be in harmony with the will of God as expressed in the precepts of His holy law.
1 John 3:7 ESV
Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous.
Righteousness
is living in
accord with the law.
Ephesians 2:8 ESV
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
But
James 2:17 ESV
So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
When you understand
the correct definition
of faith,
it makes perfect sense.
True faith
like David’s says:
Psalm 40:8 ESV
I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.”
Christians are to
be like Christ...
1 John 2:6 ESV
whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
We know how He was!
John 15:10 ESV
If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.
The Bible teaches us
to follow in his
footsteps.
1 Peter 2:21 ESV
For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.
1 Peter 2:21
The condition of eternal life is now just what it always has been,—just what it was in Paradise before the fall of our first parents,—perfect obedience to the law of God, perfect righteousness.
The problem:
we can’t do it.
Solution:
Faith
Faith in
Christ’s Righeousness.
How
Forgiveness for past
Power for future.
He changes our hearts
continual surrender
He empowers us.
Philippians 2:13 ESV
for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
The miracles continues
“The life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.” Galatians 2:20
Galatians 2:20 ESV
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Don’t miss this!
This does not happen
in future
in heaven.
In this flesh!!!
Christ’s characters
within us!
Matthew 10:20 ESV
For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
Then with Christ working in you, you will manifest the same spirit and do the same good works—works of righteousness, obedience.
This is true faith!

True Faith

True faith
always transforms!
False faith
James 2:19 ESV
You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!
Most Christian
experience
false faith.
God is there.
God loves me.
I love God
Intellectual faith.
Next, he says
famouse verse:
James 2:20 ESV
Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless?
If my faith
does not transform my life
(according to the Biblical standard)
it is not faith.
Example:
James 2:21 ESV
Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar?
Abraham sacrificing Isaac!
Now it is true:
Romans 8:4 ESV
in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Romans 8:1 ESV
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Some say,
I just can’t...
Why?
Romans 8:7 ESV
For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot.
The heart is
set on the flesh!

True Sanctification

Even for those
who are in Christ.
Constant battles
surrender.
We are not there yet.
We are imperfect.
We may fall.
Don’t be discouraged!
1 John 2:1 ESV
My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
He longs to forgive
and heal us.
We are a
“work in progress”

I’m not Convicted Yet...

Umm…
How does this work?
Holy Spirit:
John 16:8 ESV
And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment:
Gives information
allows us to accespt
or not accept...
If we surrender,
He will change the heart.
If we don’t surrender
we don’t have faith!
Then we say,
“I’m just not convicted on that yet...”
Blasphemy
against the spirit.
If you are honest with God
seeking renewal daily.
don’t get discouraged.
If you have been
experienceing
something that
is not faith.
I want to make
you very uncomfortable.
To change.
To surrender.

Self Esteem

Our society definition
is dangerous!
The closer you come to Jesus, the more faulty you will appear in your own eyes; for your vision will be clearer, and your imperfections will be seen in broad and distinct contrast to His perfect nature. This is evidence that Satan’s delusions have lost their [65] power; that the vivifying influence of the Spirit of God is arousing you.
You should
see your brokeness.
that is healthy.
No deep-seated love for Jesus can dwell in the heart that does not realize its own sinfulness. The soul that is transformed by the grace of Christ will admire His divine character; but if we do not see our own moral deformity, it is unmistakable evidence that we have not had a view of the beauty and excellence of Christ.
If you see Christ
you will see
how ugly you are.
I don’t promote
self-esteem.
ourselves less.

Esteem means : respect and admire.

We don’t need that.
Not for self.
For Christ.
The more our sense of need drives us to Him and to the word of God, the more exalted views we shall have of His character, and the more fully we shall reflect His image.
