11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good report. 3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. 4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. 5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. 7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. 8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. 9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: 10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. 11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. 12 Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable. 13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. 15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. 16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city. 17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, 18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: 19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure. 20 By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come. 21 By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of his staff. 22 By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones. 23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment. 24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; 25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; 26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. 27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible. 28 Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them. 29 By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned. 30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days. 31 By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.

32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: 33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, 34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. 35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: 36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: 37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; 38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. 39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: 40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

We call Hebrew chapter 11 the Hall of Faith for Biblical hero’s.
Those special people who were so powerfully used of God in impossible situations that a special chapter of the bible would be dedicated to them for the purpose of preserving their actions for all to remember!
People who were undaunting in their belief in God.
Unwavering in their service to God.
Those who were willing to obey God without question!
Let’s look at some of these Hero’s of the Faith.
Noah: What a man!
God told him it was going to rain and to build a boat to carry all the animals to safety...
He stopped his life and invested the next 100 years in building a boat to protect himself and his family against a threat that he didn’t even understand!
He didn’t even know what rain was!
He was not a boat builder!
It took him 100 years!
Yet he built it and saved his whole family AND THE HUMAN RACE!
Abraham: Here is an idol maker, making idols and one day a voice would speak to him and tell him to take everything he owned and go look for a city that I have build!
“Which god spoke to you Abram?”
“Well… none of these. It was just and voice out of no where!”
“What does this city look like, Abram?”
“Well, I’m not sure. I will know it when I see it!”
And he would pack up his family and everything he owned and head into a wasteland looking for a city made by an invisible God!
And he would have a sone who would also have a son, who would carry on the tradition.
Sara: She had been told that she would be the mother of the greatest people on earth.
And at 90 years of age, she holds her first born son...
Abraham: willing to sacrifice his son at the command of the same voice that sent him looking for a city that he still had not found 4 decades later?
Moses: Gave up the good life to lead a bunch of slaves to the promise land to continue Abraham’s search!
Israel: saw Jericho’s walls fall
Rahab: saved her self and family AND finds herself in the lineage of Jesus!
Gedeon: fight the world super power with 300 men, wipe them out without a fight.
32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
These people were insane!
We have a problem reading the bible sometimes...
We read it knowing the outcome - so it looses some of it’s impact.
You got this Noah, you’re gonna save us all!
No sweat Abraham, God’s going to provide you a lamb!
BUT Noah didn’t know that!
Abraham didn’t know that!
Those around them had to have thought that they were INSANE!
What is insane, crazy, stupid, ignorant, sad, misguided in one season will be counted as faith in another!
Some of you are struggling… “did God really tell me to _________”
Does it honor God?
Does it fall in line with the scripture?
Does it honor the things of God?
You think the devil would tell you to do something like that?
You think the devil would tell you to pay double tithe?
Put an extra $100 in the offering?
Talk to your co worker about coming to church or teaching them a Home Bible Study?
I’m looking for some people of God who will be willing to follow by in a step of faith!
I’m not talking about the idea of faith as a christian concept...
I’M TALKING ABOUT TAKING A STEP THAT IS WILL BE SAID TO BE INSANE! CRAZY! STUPID!
idea of faith vs living out faith
I’m looking for some boat builders!
Someone who will take their families and go looking for something that only God can define!
Someone willing to face the world with just a hand full of insane, Holy Ghost filled, God called - warriors!
Some who don’t care what they say about us today because we know that what this will be on the other side!
Question: What are you doing right now that your kids will look back on and say
My dad - My mom walked the walk of faith!
I grew up on stories of my grandparent walk of faith.
It didn’t make sense...
Five kids packed into a station wagon - a tank of gas, no money for the next tank.
Paid from the last weeks-long revival they preached with a couple chickens!
Yes! Live chicken to a traveling evangelist!
Looking for the next souls that would hear to gospel.
Stopping in town squares to preach.
Many times greeted violently - fruit, eggs and even rocks thrown at them.
BUT - where they were greeted kindly, they would put up a tent and start preached Jesus Name.
Many times this would become a church.
Raise up a young man to take his place and go find the next town!
That is insane!
What looked crazy then, I know to be faith now!
1953 they pulled into Rockford Illinois and started a church with one other family, the Gentry family.
1958 God would call him to the next town and he would leave a church of 500 in the hands of a young man he had trained and take a little one room church in Paduka Kentucky with just a hand full of people!
FAITH!
My grandparents did that almost 30 times in their life!
Churches like Rockford, Walnut Ridge Ar, Paduka Ky, Homasasa Springs Fl, Chandler Az, Sacrimonto Ca, Poppler Bluff Mo, Kennet Mo, Memphis Tn
Who are thriving today!
At his funeral there were hundreds of Jesus Name, Apostolic preachers to celebrate their walk of Faith!
I have watched my parents all my life walk that same path.
I pray my kids have seen my wife and I walk the same path.
I’m looking for a church that will say lead on Pastor!
Let’s walk the walk together!
