If not, this is another one of those two chapter sermons in the book that we were using for the summertime study. They gave two chapters. This is a very long passage. Where do it all in one. Heavenly father that was a lot of your word in a short amount of time lord is today a daunting chapter with a great deal of information I should say, but we know that in this word is Hope and truth and Lord. I pray that today is we study this together that This chapter is made clear by your Holy Spirit not by my words, or if I pray that what I speak, is that of you and it only see it clarifies your words to to the degree that you would have done Lord. I pray that the spirit will move here. It'll make the understanding of perhaps a very complicated chapter very clear to those are here today. Thank you for this opportunity Lord. All right. This is serious prophecy. There's a big book. I have lost count of the chapters or verses 44 vs. We just read through. It's like, oh, holy moly Kings of the North and South in this and that in the other if you're confused. That's okay. This is confusing. It's another one of these Daniel towards the end is a very confusing but so don't feel like well I said I'm done. Pay attention will try to clear some of you have questions. You can't find clear answers to that's okay. I've got some of those about this very chapter. So don't worry about that. There's like these require the Holy Spirit to even begin the process now those Among Us that ability vs. AIO the holy spirit's required to do everything in God's word is powerless about the word Holy Spirit, absolutely, but I think there's some chapters in the Bible that you could read and folks that aren't even Believers could comprehend and say okay. Yes. I see what I see what you're saying that what you're trying to communicate on play understanding. This one is not so much that this reads more like a history book like what's going on? History to us, but this is prophecy in Daniel Stein. He's just closing things that have not yet come to pass in some regard prophecy has a purpose and It ultimately glorifies God. Maybe I parked on this every week, but I'm going to continue to do so because it's it's critical we study this that we understand why we bother it's not to get a better understanding of metal Persian history and how it aligned and impacted Daniel that's useful information. But that's not why we're here today. You can take a real history class and learn a lot more about that than you learn in this chapter. We're here today to focus on God Jesus Christ and what they've done and it's in this chapter even if maybe it feels a little disconnected. What are you looking at all this week and think about this being broken into three chunks and I know it gets blurry when we read through it that fast but chapter 11 verses 2 through 20 is prophecy that aligns perfectly with the time of Daniel until Antiochus for epiphanies though. That was a ruler that was sort of like a The very Antichrist like figure out that time. This was not history. Then this is prophecy. It's history now and we see that the prophecy that Daniel wrote aligned perfectly with what happened in this area until Antiochus 4th, 3:35, which sounds a lot like 30 36 to the end in a little bit into 12:20 or 3:35 describes the rate of Antiochus perfectly exactly the things that he did and what transpired when you move beyond that. It's sort of like is this a different person because it's very similar. It is a different personalities prophesying about this is a future final Antichrist. Probably it probably is key there. I'm not God. I'm not Daniel. This is not God's word when I'm saying this is God's word. Not to most likely that's what's been described. It aligns. I see what we see in Revelation any the whole view of scripture that probably what that means. It doesn't align perfectly with Antiochus and similar to other of Prophecies of Daniel very common place for God to prophesy both and this is going to happen now it's going to happen in the future. It seems very similar to actually right. That's the point guards getting to hear is this is the way it's going to be there is going to be terrifying individuals that do terrible things over and over and over again over and over and over again. All right. Well disclosure there are Scholars actual studies of Daniel that say this chapter cannot be preached. It's not reachable too long and difficult is not Jesus in there. Don't even try it. So let's find out together if they're right or wrong cuz I'm going to do it. Why do we bother with this why even engage wanted to skip 11 and say study at home read the same book? We have the benefit of History so we know that this aligns perfectly Daniel would have known that he would have watch this unfold in real-time. So the context is critical and we look so it's like it's like history. It's like when Josephus write stuff. That's not what this is. This isn't Daniel documenting. What happened. This is God prophesying what will happen that absolutely perfectly aligned with what did happen after Daniel would have seen those same thing, right? So immediately after this was unfolding the people that Daniel was talking to said your prophecies are coming through and he said yes God is true and right little by little. For us. This is a very very distant past but it's still true. This was prophesied that God made that is absolutely one hundred percent fulfilled - perhaps that last chunk that's talking about the final Antichrist to come. This should help us understand that God has been is and will be there for his people. That has never changed. If you feel like a boy, I wish God was like was with us now like he was then he is with us now. He's just got nothing new to revelate. He's not there's nothing else. We need to know about what comes next it's all here. It's done a canning is complete. The Bible is complete. It's all there. So that should be comforting to us. There's nervousness in Daniel's time about that. We don't have that problem right where the benefit of self on you piece of paper. But according to his plan and purposes. The first thing he was God's plan is greater than our planet. They would have had some idea of what they're going to do in the next year or two or three or five. If you're not read Daniel Levin and and take the the notepaper that you've gotten your small group this week and go back through and it just make marks or you see this stuff. It's it's difficult to do all that from here. The point of that right is God is glorified by demonstrating his omnipotence. You may think all the point is because he's trying to refine us and yes, he's trying to find his relax. That's very true. But we talked about God saying look at the state of the world and watch me architect this together. Yes, it glorifies. Yes, it it helps will find you and and draw you nearer, but all of it is to glorify me. Warrants Glory. He knows that he deserves it. Everything was meant to do that. If we believe that he is orchestrating all the stuff here and it comes to pass just as he prophesied that it would then we can trust in the fact that everything is going to be handled by God for his glory. It's quite difficult to say that everything is happening in the world right now can be used to glorify God, but that's exactly what the word says. all things work together for the glory of the Lord In Genesis, there is a passage where it says what you meant for good. He what you meant for evil. He meant for good. Piper has a little spill what he kind of like can't get over the fact that God meant that the word is Matt. God wasn't like Auto use it he man that he's in charge of that what these people meant for evil in this chapter in this time. God meant for good either. He's in charger. He's not I believe that he is we're going to stand on that that promise. It doesn't mean that Daniel would have been sad or scared by this right? It's probably a bummer to hear what you're about to go through and it's not pleasant. There's going to be a lot of suffering and look at the floors and people will be slaughtered and people capture and driven over here and taking over there or not. I'll show you didn't like dang it. Samo. Not not so far. Not yet. There is a God isn't done with discipline may not be what we want to hear.

But hearing a discipline will end when God ordained it should be music to our ears. Everywhere, we see a prophecy like this even in Revelation. There's an end. There's never a notch. There's a notion that we don't know what we don't know the appointed time, but there's never an idea that that's suffering may be in except for one place. That's it. That's the only place where there's no wind. If you're in Hell bad news. This is not hell Earth. Despite how bad and I get here tonight. He'll as bad as it would have sounded the Daniel it's worse if it is far better than hell would be and this what we see is an appointed time a constant mention of that. Here's what's going to happen. Here is the purpose of it. Here's what I need to have occurring for my people, but then that time will be over and we will finish with that eventually we'll be finished with all of it. Of course that is after yet another round of of purging God raised up Egypt and Syria according to his planning purposes and these are other nations that are being discussed here. The plan here is God gave Egypt Victory, but the king it's King exalted himself the King of the North and the South and other kings. When Kim gets Victory and he says oh I did it already for me. And I'd let's have a big celebratory thing on the king. I did the work. I've led the armies. I'm inspired the nation. Hooray. Absolutely. No acknowledgement of a Divine hand of a sovereign playing nothing at all. You guys are lucky you have me write God's allowing that to happen. He's giving him a victory. He's seeing them through according to his plan. But instead of saying I believe the god of the Israelites may have just as he prophesied seeing it through the victory. I don't care what they wrote. We did it for the best. Same thing happens with Siri on this chapter. But his King was willful inside. The word insolent is even even used in there that he was very insolent. Right? So this one king wants exalt himself. The other one doesn't care about anything right now. He's just I'll do what I want. I'm the best good bad or otherwise, this doesn't matter. I almost just a pathetic the purpose what we see here is no man without God is worth a darn. There was some great leader Some solid dividual doing some mighty things here, but they are only successful because of God . People that do wonderful things and Think Loud good for me good for me. You know it in our small group once we talked about no one chose to be born. I didn't choose that right someone else maybe had a choice to have a kid or rather tried to make that choice, right? But I never made the choice to people I just was born and here I am but there's so many things that I fool myself into being in charge of any control over when there's really so little that. I can do my heart stops beating in 15 seconds. And it doesn't matter what I plan to do in 30 seconds. That's right. The dependence on God is real we should understand that we should understand where we rank where. Is no man without God is worth a darn if I cannot keep in perspective the good and the bad and a guy that's in control. I'm going to struggle in life and turn into a victory given to me. But all of all good for me wonderful news everybody. I'm here God's Gift of whatever I'm dealing with or whatever, you know, just because I want that doesn't mean anything and if God was good. He would have given me more better write that that's it. It's a it's a it's a lesson. We see this being just terribly exacerbated this chapter. Anything in this Egyptian and Syrian history is nice. What about the Romans? So I think this is a very interesting thing to note because we try to understand what God's talking about who is talking to and why he's discussing it. Rome is happening. There is Rome its form. During this time and it's getting very big while this chapter is occurring. It's exploding in Europe in a good way. The beauty here is the God will get to them when he gets there. I'll deal with the Romans there. I'm in charge of them too. But at this point that this time when he's speaking with Danny what Daniels dealing with is your future near future is not being directed by the actions of Rome. They are not bear brought to bear on the Israelites yet that comes later and we see Prophecy in the same regard. Of course, we actually saw prophecy hinting at Roman prior chapters, if you remember I think my Creeks on up talking about the the various Empires that were revealed to Daniel prophecies. Yes. Like I feel like this is something that I'm contending with in my chances are who you are. In a small area world. We see the same thing too much between men doing what men do in the grand scheme of the whole earth same problem in your daily life same issue, and I ever worked at a place where there's like a boss over here in a box over there and I don't really care for each other and they try to build an Empire inside the company that what that I call those people Empire Builders, right? I know what the directors are for this place, but I'm doing it my way. I know better you're going to depend on me. I'm going to see to it people tend to dislike that it's all the way down right in our families our friendship same kind of thing can happen in in this prophecy of flies there and elsewhere. So then we get towards Antioch has God raised up a contemptible person to refine purify and sanctify his people. Why? Think about it. Why would he do it? Turn answers for his glory beyond that. I don't know. I can't answer that not gone I can pretend to be. Why God chooses to do it that way instead of a an angel appearing to the world and saying knock it off for morons doofuses. Pay attention God's up here. That's we need to be focused. Stop boring over stupid stuff. It's all God's anyway, I don't know why he's choosing to do it this way. All I know is it glorifies it? He's going to show that yes, there's nobody here that can do anything that I can't redeem but you can do nothing that's worth redeeming. If it's not for me, no man is going to pull this off. Not just about setting up an island worshiping in idolatry is putting anything in a place about God. Our desires are riches. Our friends are family our church our worship time if this moves above God, it's a Dollar Tree shipping something else besides what God has called us to worship, which is himself. Men do this mankind do this endlessly and God let this happen. We see it here that idolize their armies idolize their lands of sides of their country the way they fight the things they believe the beauty of their women all these people here these other nation that come into these women are all the door and I'm like, woah, what happens is your life distraction, right God saying, it's cool if you want to dress up, but that can't be your priority. Your priorities got to be on me don't like I said, that's what I think otherwise is not a real clear thing about why God doing what he's doing cuz I have to account to us, but if you're like me you kind of one of those sorts of things. We see the notion of flattery and deceit being used when we as people are trying to refine our cells we read this chapter. We want to be better folks going to be closer to God. We need to beware of flattering to say to somebody is very I actually started trying to figure out a good way to talk about this but flattering to see a very close cousins. I heard the saying flattery gets you everywhere. I heard that saying the meaning behind it is when you're nice to people they tend to give you what you want. Saying that's a very pretty dress. If it's a pretty dress, it's not flattery. That's just a compliment Lottery implies. The seat Lottery is saying things that maybe aren't true in an effort to butter somebody up right? You're the most that's the most beautiful dress I've ever seen. That stuff is the most handsome tuxedo I've ever seen.

That's absurd won't probably answered. I don't know. Maybe it's the most handsome person in the world that likely you're saying that because you want them to feel better than they ought to feel maybe they actually look terrible that talks and you're saying it so they can maybe feel like they don't look so bad, but it might have been on the receiving end of flattery. You know, it really doesn't help if somebody came up to me and said right now they stood up and said you without a doubt are one of the most physically fit people I've ever seen in my life I'd say What's the matter with you? I would say oh really? I do work out but when flattery and deceit come into play where we need to be guarded Hearts against that is we need to understand the truth of us. If somebody comes up to us and tells us something that patently false but it's just nice to hear we should be very wary of that when we see Antiochus coming to power which is what he did and we see the Enterprise coming to power its through a lot of this. He's involved in the church. These people are engaged in God's work and are flattering people that are floundering around a bill like a copy of people to say things. Like if you're healthy. You're holy. If you're rich, you're close to God, it's a good indicator. What are people like, that's what I want to hear. That's what I want to hear and they get 10,000 people sitting in their Church. Because if you tell me that I'm good, then I'm going to hang out with you. Weather alert. No man is good. Not even one flattering to see we refine ourselves by being aware of that know when it's coming know who and whose we are what God tells us about ourselves and when people come into our lives and they try to turn that around. Good God is good and he's working on me, but I had to be sure what you're saying is seems out of out of a line with the word know that Purify guard your heart and tongue I purify and refine sound very similar. Right and they are regards the bullet point here focusing on heart and telling us about what we choose to do with our reactions to things like flattering the seat, right? If we want to flatter back bad news, don't do it not worth it. I don't need anybody to tell me things that aren't true. The problem with that is where your tongue goes your heart follows that kind of thing, right? So if you start depending I Can't Tell You Why the new Parrot the line and pretty soon you're part of that you start to believe it starts to pick up false teaching bad Doctrine errors. Send. I mean folks it's one of the things that devastate churches and we always joke sometimes about like prayer meetings turn into Christian sponsor rumor Mills right for the prayer. Like here we go. Nobody cares just lift him up, right but we don't really want to pray for them or their rash if you will. We just want to hear things so we know what's going on around us that it's up consuming us. If we're not careful. We just want to know now that I got to know everything that's going on with everybody at all the time and then sanctify this is the toughest when I think of all these because the first two you can time to take your leave. What harm does it do? I might be able to do a little bit of something I should but who cares this is where your metal is tested and Brace God's work in spite of difficulty and suffering and we talked about these end time prophecies. It doesn't sound Pleasant and you probably think like the who wants to go through that. Nobody wants to go through that. But if you want to be Sanctified we Embrace God's work in spite of the difficulties and suffering when things get hard you don't just bail on the faith and walk off and say whatever gets you on Easy Street. It's a tendency to do that. Very convenient. I've been there right when I was a younger person. I'm in a group of people that don't appreciate Christian Dior think it's stupid or back or whatever else and I'm not really strong what's going on at he's just like right now, I'll just deny price for a while and pretend. I'm cool with these folks and it eventually Circle back around. God's gracious in that people are able to do that come back to him, but Better if we were to be Sanctified by a situation like that say no I'm going to I'm going to endure the suffering this persecution of these people that I like and they think this is a joke, and I'm going to I'm going to stick by my guns and maybe our friendship, but that's okay hard to do difficult or suffering involved, but we ought to do it. The reality is this is exactly these three things is what we see Jesus modeling and this is later on but the discussion here about what the antichrist's are doing to come to power what evil people are doing when they come to power prices doing the polar opposite, right Vince The Firm Antichrist people. He spoke truth about that but he was talking about God's word. What comes next what you need to believe. Here's what we can do. Here is a parable. Let me teach you. I need to help you understand. Nobody had to hold of Jesus accountable, but he held them accountable, right and they get that seeing him and guard against hard guarding his tongue and talking to people and speaking the truth. They learned a lot from him and he perfect perfectly did that situation for better than we could ever hope to do but it's a great example and we talked about enduring suffering. He embraced the work of the Lord to death even death on a cross. literally died serving all the way to the Cross if there's a doubt about like his ministerial capabilities as he's on a cross with two people and he's Preaching as he's dying, right this person denies in this person doesn't today we go to paradise. I mean, he's he's up here. Absolutely 100% preaching all the way but his final breath. It's not a coincidence. It's evidence of a sovereign God. Every single biblical hero throughout the whole book before and after Christ attempts to model Christ. . We look at the anyways, he's doing a lot of good things while he's yeah, he is. Is exemplifying setting an example of what price is going to do? Perfectly Paul David you name it all of them every one of them we hold in high esteem because of what they've done because God has told them he got mugged and he told them that it's because he mimics the things that Christ will do the ultimate biblical hero the one that saves everybody all this foreshadow sat.

God will raise up Antichrist who will exalt the Maginot himself as God. So after we see him using somebody despicable like Antiochus and he's prophesying us the Daniel. We really want to lose sight of that Daniel thinking gosh that sounds terrible and got saying that's going to be pretty terrible. I think is going to happen, but there's going to be an even more terrible person. And he's going to deify himself. We see that here right put themselves above all of God. Ask God allows right? He's going to be a man of unbridled Conquest everybody that he fights will fall. I got permits. Doesn't mean that God is creating an evil person to and then and making them evil. That's not how that works what this means is the god is creating a person and taking everything away from them that would in any way encouraged him away from Evil basically leave him to his own devices. Double rise of the Antichrist who will exalt magnify himself as God there will be suffering in the future. As God sees fit. It will happen. We talked before like we shouldn't glom onto suffering the s*** like go to someplace. Let's go suffer for the Lord now, that's not really the goal here. You will suffer for the Lord if you are not suffering at all if there's no adversity in your life for God sake

Get back into where there's probably something you could do to be a little bit more engaged and invite the suffering now you're thinking like why don't want to do that. We should be prepared to do that. If we're on easy street if we gather up on a Sunday and where everything is, okay. I'm not going to put up with I don't need to not to rock the boat. I'll just do my thing and then Christ will come back. I'll get to go to heaven. That's really not much of a plan. We certainly don't see that model hair in the Bible do know if we go we charge for word for Christ the roller presses us and suffering occurs because of bad leadership and it will be suffering under him for Christians. It will end it's not forever. And I think what we tend to do is because we don't control the suffering Our Lives to a degree that we find solid we flee from suffering at all costs. We don't want it because what if it lasts forever, this is terrible one occasion. The suffering is so bad. I just wanted to end it. So if we know a way to avoid it altogether will choose to do that. Every word of what suffering is to align with the world price. I will suffer for him for not for him. We not to worry about it by I heard this verses Psalm 35 there's anger is but for a moment, his favor is for a lifetime weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning. That isn't a song Trading My Sorrows.

But this is a wonderful thing to think about when we are Weeping for a night or two or five. There will be a morning. And with that comes Joy, right? It's okay that there is your we're underneath a little bit of anger and some discipline from God. That's okay. It's favor is for a lifetime. Sometimes you're angry at those you favorite something to discipline Those Who Love sometimes I got to stay out to be sad for you do indoors that so the joy to be appreciated. David got it. The Antichrist at the End of This Book more time that will be the single most powerful man who has ever existed. I hinted at this right? He's the culmination of man of God offers no protection or oversights a man's will so this is sort of like the inmates are finally turned loose to run the asylum. God stands back and says there I'm going to I'm going to pull off every guard but I'm providing for even those that are part of my kingdom to keep them on the straight. And now it's all I'm pulling away. This man will run rampant. Amass a great Empire the demons the scenes of the spiritual warfare all that stuff focuses on this individual cuz this is somebody that can do great great great harm in it. He is the worst that's not hyperbole. A lot of times. It seems like this is the worst comedian that has its Hole by hole sketch about that. Right? But this is the worst. This is a combination of everything you can imagine of being bad and it's not because he's the Devil. He's a dude. He's a he's a man influence how we buy the devil, right? This is going to be somebody that all the armies and he'll be glomming onto because he's the one that's going to make all the difference in the world, but we know how that ends.

Jesus is the best. That's the answer we can talk about the Antichrist. Christ the winner of the fight, right? If you knew who's going to win the the boxing match before the match. Would you spend a lot of time talking about the loser outside is making people like I feel like a fool so I called and he looks pretty strong. You know, he's not going to win. We won't understand what made what drives Antichrist and what that means us as Believers, but that's how to fix rusted wall. Do not fear this problem. Like I said that don't be afraid this stuff can be very very terrifying. I know there are people that worry about that. I used to what I was saying revelation of the book The Drop brought me to church in a brownie the church because it was confusing and scary tribulation suffering I want to do that sounds like nuclear fallout. That sounds like a terrible way to die. I go back out of the Cold War era where they were movies about bombs going off in Chicago and I was younger I was like, oh my gosh, I mean I'm going to like I'm going to bleed to death in a sink. Like I'll know I don't want that. Right? Well, you know that those sorts of things get stuck in our craw and that's exactly what the devil wants us to get stuck in there. Be afraid. What about tomorrow? Try to guess at Pickett worry about this go to sleep. No, don't do that. If you find yourself fearful of future suffering turn to the Lord in prayer. He will comfort you. It may not be right away and maybe 3 weeks of morning and sadness before he doesn't keep taking it to God don't give up don't give in Weiser church family do this regular we pray regularly Wednesday nights. We have a small group on Sunday morning. We pray every type what you need throughout the week is a time to get together and pray for sustaining and join us. We'd love to have you don't leave here worried about this future Antichrist. I'm not saying who cares it's Antichrist suffering will endure. Yes going to be a terrible thing. But our perspective should be the fear of something that is easily defeated by our Lord and savior. That's not that's not for us to leave knowing that God has are already has an event monster planned out. He is doomed from the start. He just doesn't get it we get it and it doesn't get it. He's going to think a little bit of clever trickery is going to catch you off-guard put them on his heels and I'll one-up him and good to say no, that's fine. You're going to die. Cool. I'm going to take what I can I just here to destroy. I want to see things die that ain't us we're here for life.
