Thursday is the first day of school. And I’m so not ready. Some of you with kids have begun trying to get your kids back on some semblance of a schedule for the last few weeks. Not us. We’re going to wing it. And sadly their teachers are going to pay the price.
There will be screaming and yelling and crying. And in between tears, right before we head to the car we’ll take that picture at the front door declaring it the first day of school and what they want to be when the grow up. Mia wants to be a teacher and Emily wants to marry a wealthy prince so she can be a princess.
But a new school year is exciting because it’s filled with opportunity. Opprotunity to find your passion. Opportunity to find your calling.
And while we all know that these are good things…we are looking for that one day for each of these students that will change everything. When they answer the call from Jesus to follow me!
matthew 4:18-
Matthew 4:18–20 ESV
18 While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 19 And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed him.
One day can change everything. One day you are going through life and Jesus changes everything.
This is what we want for our students but our hope is that each and every day you are growing into a stronger more devoted follower of Jesus.
And should you have made it this far not yet knowing Jesus, may you this year, have that day where you see Jesus as more than just a story but a savior that died on a cross to save you and me from our sins that we may have eternal life with Him in Heaven. And may that one day you embrace that change your life.
That’s what we want for you.
Challenge: Follow Jesus.
Promise: I’m praying for you and my door is always open.
