Introduction
Introduction
God has always required obedience of His people
Such is illustrated with the children of Israel during the exodus from Egypt in
Simple Commands
Simple Commands
The people complained regarding their hunger ()
God was going to provide for their hunger and test their obedience ()
Quails at night, bread in the morning ()
Bread was called “manna” (what?) by the children of Israel ()
Only an omer was to be gathered of the manna ()
This the people did and the Lord provided ()
They were not to have any leftover manna until the morning i.e. to save some for the next day ()
This some did not do and the manna bred worms and stank ()
It illustrated their lack of trust in God
Disobedience to God’s word shows our lack of trust in God
On the sixth day they were to gather twice as much in preparation for the sabbath ()
Notice, in following God’s command the manna did not breed worms nor stink! ()
Once the sabbath came, Moses reiterated the commandment ()
Sadly, some went out on the sabbath to find manna disobeying God’s command ()
The people were prideful; they thought they knew how it was going to be and as such disbelieved and disobeyed God
Disobedience to God’s word shows a prideful attitude
God calls them out ()
Conclusion
Conclusion
What one of us misunderstood what the people were to do with the manna?
Why is it that people disobey God’s clear commandments?
Lack of trust in God
Pride
All of these show a “heart” problem
Will you obey God’s commandments or will you be like some of the children of Israel that did not trust God and manifested pride in their hearts?
