Q - Have you ever been given a gift card before?
Subway Card - Sunday Afternoon
In order to use the card, someone else had to buy it.
In order to buy it, that someone had to put money on it.
In order for you to experience the reward of the gift card, you must receive it.
When you use the gift card, you redeem the reward/benefits of that card at no cost to yourself.
It’s been freely given.
The Bible tells us that there is a reality available for all of us.
GOD’S WORD
TRUTH: Jesus gives us redemption that transfers us from darkness to light.
PRAY
The Bad News
We know we need redemption.
We know something is wrong with us.
We know that there’s a bent in our heart that desires evil.
We know our sin.
Because of our sin.
We owe a payment that has to be paid.
Living in the “domain of darkness” is the reality of those are have not had this payment paid.
Q - What do we do about our sin?
Something has to be done about it or we are dead.
Eternally dead.
The Good News
Jesus did something about our sin.
>> Jesus paid that cost.
Jesus paid that cost for us to be redeemed
Jesus life, death, and resurrection can be attributed to you by receiving the gift.
You/me/we can be transferred from living in darkness to living in the light of Christ.
Gift Card
Redeeming a gift card means that you obtain the reward at someone else’s expense.
Jesus offers His completed work on the cross to you.
>>There is a reward waiting for you to redeem, because of the expense of another.
You/me/we can be transferred from living in darkness to living in the light of Christ.
Our redemption in this life is only through the expense of Jesus’ body & blood on the cross.
The resurrection proved that the payment of sin was pain and cleared the bank.
So that you can be forgiven of your sin and transferred from darkness to light.
Q - How? How can you and I be transferred from the darkness of sin to the light of Jesus?
Repentance from sin
Faith in Jesus.
What it Means for Me/You
Gift Card
TRUTH: Jesus gives us redemption that transfers us from darkness to light.
No longer do you walk this life in darkness, Jesus redeems you.
Jesus takes your mess and redeems you.
Jesus takes what’s broken & restores
He takes what’s broken & restores
Jesus rescues you from the domain of darkness
Jesus rescues you from the domain of darkness
Jesus places you in the light.
Q - Would it be silly and irrational to redeem a gift card and not use it?

Q - Wouldn’t it be irrational to keep walking in the darkness & when you could walk in the light?
TRUTH: Jesus gives us redemption that transfers us from darkness to light.
This is what’s happening to some of you sitting here tonight.
Q - Would it be silly and irrational to redeem a gift card and not use it?
You have Jesus, but still walk in the darkness of sin in your life.
You have Jesus and are defined by what He has already done for you in the cross & resurrection, but still walk this life as if you’re in defeat.
You have Jesus, but feel like you’re still a slave to the sin in your life.
The truth of the gospel is that Jesus has DELIVERED you!
Nothing other can Jesus is worthy or able to redeem you.
Nothing other can Jesus is worthy or able to redeem you.
