4Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
First God doesn’t make himself our enemy but we make ourselves His enemy. The responsibility of that is on us.
Enemy is a strong word and the fact that James repeats the statement shows that this statement is highly important.
