Recap of last week
25 I don’t want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you will not be conceited: A partial hardening has come upon Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written,
The Deliverer will come from Zion;
he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.
27 And this will be my covenant with them
when I take away their sins.
28 Regarding the gospel, they are enemies for your advantage, but regarding election, they are loved because of the patriarchs, 29 since God’s gracious gifts and calling are irrevocable. 30 As you once disobeyed God but now have received mercy through their disobedience, 31 so they too have now disobeyed, resulting in mercy to you, so that they also may now receive mercy. 32 For God has imprisoned all in disobedience so that he may have mercy on all.
33 Oh, the depth of the riches
both of the wisdom and of the knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments
and untraceable his ways!
34 For who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?
35 And who has ever given to God,
that he should be repaid?
36 For from him and through him
and to him are all things.
To him be the glory forever. Amen.
Romans 11:25

Christian Standard Bible Chapter 11
25 I don’t want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you will not be conceited: A partial hardening has come upon Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.
He is talking about us as gentiles.
So that we should not get puffed up or look down upon Israel!
The importance of this passage!
We are apart of God’s plan of mercy for Israel, we should be amazed at two things.
1 that God has reveal His specific plan to us
2 that God has included us gentiles in the salvation of Israel
Romans 11:26-27
26 And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written,
The Deliverer will come from Zion;
he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.
27 And this will be my covenant with them
when I take away their sins.
God’s plan for Israel has not ended!
Many theologians will say that God’s plan and covenant ended when Christ came!
R.C. Sproul was one of them, don’t get me wrong I love Sproul’s teaching, but here he had it wrong.
God’s covenant with Israel has not ended there is a clear distinction here between Israel and the genitles (church)
God’s Great Plan
God’s Great Plan
28 Regarding the gospel, they are enemies for your advantage, but regarding election, they are loved because of the patriarchs,
Why are they enemies regarding the gospel?
because they have rejected it.
did all reject it? no of course not hence the partial hardening
How is this to our advantage?
We were the enemies of God! but now by His mercy for both us and the Jews God has a plan for His glory!
This is despite us!
It is also despite present Israel
The second half of the verse but regarding election, they are loved because of the patriarchs,
It was because of the love for the patriarchs and their devotion to God which was due to the covenant God made with them.
29 since God’s gracious gifts and calling are irrevocable.
What does irrevocable mean?
Christian Standard Bible. (2017). (). Nashville, TN: Holman Bible Publishers
Cannot be taken back, established for eternity, finished, not turned away, persistent
If that is what irrevocable means then what does it mean if His gifts and calling are such?
Calling here is the greek klesis it is a summons of the king
This should give us great hope, yet it has become a huge stumbling block to the world, why? because ain’t nobody gonna tell me what to do!
This should be our great hope.
30 As you once disobeyed God but now have received mercy through their disobedience, 31 so they too have now disobeyed, resulting in mercy to you, so that they also may now receive mercy.
Who has mercy like our God!
Do you understand that all this is so that He may show mercy on everyone, both Jews and Gentiles.
How does this affect our relationship with God?

The Great Designer
Romans 11:3
33 Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!
34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord,
or who has been his counselor?”
35 “Or who has given a gift to him
that he might be repaid?”
36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
33 Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!
Immeasurably rich planning
34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord,
or who has been his counselor?”
Romans 11:
Complete and perfect knowledge and Wisdom
35 “Or who has given a gift to him
that he might be repaid?”
Ultimate sufficiency, and final authority who owes nothing.
36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
His will be the Ultimate concluding glory!
Some concluding questions that I want you to think about this week.
Does the knowledge of God’s plan change the way you think of God?
Thinking that God’s call on your life is irrevocable, does it give you hope or does it make you want to run for Him thinking no one will control you?
Do you trust God that He is capable to know and have a plan for your life?
10 For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, then how much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life. 11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received this reconciliation.
Romans 5:
The last question I have for you I want to answer for yourself tonight, right now, for there may not be tomorrow. Have I been reconciled to God? Christ made that way when He came born of a virgin, walked this earth for 33 some years as both fully God and fully man. God humbled Himself to be beaten spit on made fun of, facing hunger, thirst, sickness, heart ache, all the excuses we use to say that God doesn’t understand what it’s like. He did all that so that we have no excuse because He does know, He experienced all that and still led a perfect sin free life. But we persecuted Him because we hated the message He had that we didn’t understand God in fact we hated Him. How could this be I go to church I come to youth group most the time, unless a friend calls while I’m here or “work” called, I heard that one. The truth is that Man that went to the cross is telling me what I didn’t want to hear, that really I am using every excuse not to hear God’s word, because it offends me! We don’t want Him give us Barrabas we cry, give us the murderer, he is less offensive than Christ! We are the same, but out of the rejection of Christ came God’s ultimate plan fulfilled, through the cross He who had no sin took your sin and my sin, He took the full wrath of God for us, then He spoke one of the greatest phrases ever spoken “It is Finished” and died. But the other greatest phrase was spoke 3 days later “ He is risen” You see Christ rose from the dead resurrected in fullness in power and glory and now sits at the right of the Father making intercession for those He has called. But there is a darkness to those who reject this comes damnation to hell where there will be wailing and nashing of teeth forever separated from God, but you will know who God is and that will be horrible knowing that you rejected Him. Are you still rejecting Him? Have you been reconciled? Ask yourself looking back at your life so far, if you were to die today would you be confident you would go to heaven?
