We must recognize that the enemy is busy. He has an agenda and that agenda is to destroy you. I can make any more plain than this: the enemy has a hit on your life. He is relentless and he is determined. If you are not careful he will destroy you. 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. The word literally tells us to be 8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. ). .

We have instructions to resist him. Similar to what James said in . Resist the devil and he shall flee. Our only power is to be in Christ. We have no ability out side of Christ! That’s why James tell us to submit to God first.
Peter is taking time to encourage us and warn us at the same time. He writes the letter to the church because he himself is experiencing persecution. The Church is scattered. The church itself is exiled. This is why he closes the letter with “ She who is in Babylon.
So we are warned to be sober and watchful.
firm in your faith. Do you have the faith to stand in the mist of adversity. We cant let our faith be pushed around. Either we gonna trust God or we are not. This is the real issue today. Standing firm in the faith is standing on his Word! If he said he will never leave you or forsake you you must believe that! The enemy use tricks and antics to sway you. Yet we need to be firm in our faith especially in times of suffering. Have confidence that these same kinds of suffering are being experienced by others also. Not only that the suffering wont last! Look at verse 10 10 And after you have suffered a little while, … You suffering has an expiration date! Just like the milk in your refrigerator. It has a expiration date! If this your season of suffering take confidence its coming to an end. As matter fact go tell someone its coming to an end!
Peter said the God of all grace will step him. Peter he himself, that’s God.
After your suffering:
God will do four things
Restore
3 God, your God, will restore everything you lost; he'll have compassion on you; he'll come back and pick up the pieces from all the places where you were scattered.
4 No matter how far away you end up, God, your God, will get you out of there
5 and bring you back to the land your ancestors once possessed.
Restore you Joy
Restore your Faith
Restore your peace
Restore your soul
Confirm
state with assurance that something is true.
▶ (confirm someone in) reinforce someone in (an opinion or feeling).
We are having identity crisis. He will confirm he chose you. You are the call according to his purpose. He will let the enemy know you belong to him.
Strengthen
3But the LORD is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.
10So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
13I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
28Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Establish
"The LORD will establish you as a holy people to Himself, as He swore to you, if you keep the commandments of the LORD your God and walk in His ways. The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways.
