24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.
25 “And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.
25 “And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.
26 “Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
27 “The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.”
28 When Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were amazed at His teaching;
Coming to a close in the sermon on the mount. God moved in a great way in our midst last week. Several that will be taking their next step of obedience in following Christ following services today. Baptism.
During this chapter of scripture, narrow gate, broad gate. A narrow way and a broad way.
Two Roads…
Two Trees. By their Fruit know them.
Today talk about
TWO MEN
TWO HOUSES
Beach pic of Grant little.
Shark -
Still tempted to tear it down..
Built out of a rock = NOT STOMPING THAT.
Two Men
ONE wise
ONE foolish
Both build houses.
Both think their house is gonna stand.
They look similar on the outside.
Foundation is the difference
Two men - look like they are on the same journey. Seem to have the same plan… may even be found in the same place.
One - hears the word and acts
The evidence of our salvation is obedience on our journey to our destination.
One - hears the word and acts
One hears the word and does nothing.
The house on the rock is a picture of the wise man.
Wise man hears the word and obeys.
The house on the sand is picture of the foolish man.
Foolish man hears the word and portrays.
looks good on the outside… NOT AS CONCERNED WITH OBEYING AS LOOKING LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. A double life.
No shortcut to growth in Christ. More time making sure they look good than digging into the word and applying it to their lives. (HEAR)
BUT WHEN THE STORMS COME.
The storms are coming.
Everyone faces storms.
These homes appear to face the same storm.
ONLY one stands.
Love Bruce’s Testimony. Appreciate the two of them so much. They have had the storms… but in the midst of the storm they are praising God.
3 By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments.
4 The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;
Saving faith results in knowing and obeying Jesus Christ
