Sunday morning in church I told a story about how God loves to be the dad who comforts us in stormy times. When we go through trying times God is there to hold us close, and He comforts. In Luke 8:22-25, we also learn that sometimes God chooses to calm the storm.
One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out. As they sailed, he fell asleep. I squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.
The Disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!”
He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. Where is our faith? He asked his disciples.
In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”
In this passage Jesus asks the disciples about there faith. He basically is saying to his disciples, you know who I am, why do you still not believe that I will take care of you.
To you, my family in Christ, I want to encourage you in these times. Our God loves us and he will always be faithful to take care of us. At times he may choose to comfort us through the storm, while at other times He may choose to calm the storm so we no longer have to fear. But our God, our daddy, will always take care of us, his children.
I love you,
Matt Mantooth
P. S. May you always be comforted by the God of all comfort!!!
