Daniel 12: Nine Marks of Eschatological Discipleship

Good morning church on a mic. We've made it to Daniel 12. I don't think anybody in here is more excited about this than I am. These last four have been the full disclosure been the toughest sermons ever preached. I found them to be very difficult subject matter wise. I find it very difficult to communicate to myself much less try to make it a server. I appreciate your patience. I appreciate the one that got up and walked out scowling at me. I don't know what he's talking about Bible none of that. So thank you for your patience. I hope and pray that is mattifying as we've given to the word touch move towards a surprisingly on point. If you're following along in the book A ramps up very nicely is Daniel. Sort of talks about the time of the end but pointing it back once again to why this matters to us, it's not just a feather in our cap saying okay good. We know what God is going to do but more of a focus on now, what do we do? So this sermon time does nine marks of eschatological discipleship. Look at those words. Those are in the book, but before we get for you into talking about it, let's go ahead and read it to return me to Daniel 12:2 Like it's not all be on the screen and was going to drive today cuz I screwed it up last weekend. She's very good at her job. All right. Here we go at that time shall rise Michael the great prince who is charge of your people and there shall be a time of trouble such as never has been seen there was a nation till that time since there was a nation but at that time your people shall be delivered everyone whose name shall be found written in the book and many of those who sleep in the dust of the Earth shall awake some to everlasting life and son to shame and everlasting contempt and those are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above the nose who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever but you Daniel shut up the words and seal the book until the time of the end many shall run to and fro and knowledge shall increase then I Daniel looked and behold to others stood one on this Bank of the stream and went on that bank of the stream and someone said to the man clothing linen who is above the Waters of the stream. How long should it be till the end of these wonders? I heard the Man Clothing line and he was above the Waters of the string arrays his right hand and his left hand toward heaven and swore by hand who lives forever that it would be for a time times and half a time and that when the shattering of the power of the Holy people comes to an end. All these things would be finished. I heard that I did not understand then I said, oh my Lord what shall be the outcome of these things. He he said go your way Daniel for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end many shall purify themselves and make themselves white and be refined with the wicked shall act wickedly and none of the wicked shall understand what those her why she'll understand it from the time of the regular burnt offering is taken away in the Abomination that makes desola to set up there shall be 1290 days blessed. Is he who Waits and arrives at the 300 1335 days, but go your way till the end and you shall rest I shall stand in your lot of place at the end of the day's let's pray. Heavenly father to move towards the end of The Book of Daniel V.

Difficulties perhaps of an understanding exactly what's being said here persist. That's a tough book lord and prophecy oftentimes leaves us confused perhaps bewildered but I pray that in our confusion Ivy Wilderness, maybe perhaps I doubt that we dropped to you and we rely on you and your Holy Spirit interpret this for us and not our own understanding or own desires Lord. I'm so pleased to be able to stand in front of the congregation. I love dearly and be able to read your word and Lord. I pray that the power of what we do today is 100% from your word and your word alone hide me behind your cross. It's in your son's name. I pray amen. All right, and Scott who what ship? So if you like me and many folks you see these big words like okay, why didn't I need a dictionary to read this week's Bible study. Just break it down eschatological eschatology if we will talk about that is basically in X steady right eye say pertaining to cuz it's not just eschatology what's going to happen when all this stuff comes sooner so discipleship is growing in Christ together and you might think that's not what type of ship is teaching people about Christ. Well as iron sharpens iron, so we're discipling somebody we're growing together. So this is all of us working together. Some master-slave relationship here when we talk about discipleship. We are working together. So eschatological discipleship is how do we grow in Christ together when the world is unraveling? How do we keep the Commandment commission while the world unravels were told to do make disciples? That's it. That's are that's our commission. That's the that's what we're here to do. But the world's going to come apart and what are we supposed to do in that time? So this chapter has nine. Weighs 9 things to focus on as we move towards he's in time all of which are referenced here and in Daniel 12 any talks about where this goes down. So number one be comforted by God's protection. Does a read-through that's it's no it's not going to be a piece of cake. They're going to be rough and times are going to be rough. But God will take care of us much like my prayed before right we know what our hearts desire maybe probably avoiding things like suffering is elevating Christ, but perhaps not with having our legs broken. But I don't know. I don't know what that's going to take a flight doesn't mean we're not going to suffer. But if you remember back and then I'll tell him we talked about spiritual warfare this opens up with Michael going to war with Satan himself. So it's all happening. It's happening on Earth. The Antichrist is coming to power the end times are happening here. That's what happening in heaven right up there where the angels are are going to town. Michael is finally moving toward does in time combat, whatever that entails that's not for us, but that should be an encouragement to us, right God protecting us here and he's protecting us in Heavenly places as well. The war that's occurring in this in the clouds if you will is is is going to benefit us and inevitably he will protect a remnant of the fellows coming in we see that here now, this is some debate sometimes what we see here in the word is it there will be people here proclaiming Christ through all of this a Remnant will be remain they will be sustained by God not going to be suffering free necessarily but in a complete eradication of God feet Is not what is prophesied The Disappearance of got people not prophesied? That's what this is saying. So that is protection for us. Right? You know that God's going to protect a Remnant and if it's not about us but it's about Christ. Let me take comfort in that if it's me that makes it great. If it ain't right remember to live in Christ and to die is gain dish that's very distant from me probably all of us here because we don't have that struggle. We're not going to walk out of this church and be persecuted that's not in times. Like we think of the end times out there right now. We're not to Locust trying to break in on Windows and murder what was happening yet. But when that's going to be nervous about what happens what we can't lose right? We will literally cannot lose. If you live you going to Proclaim Christ a living through suffering blowing their minds. How can you still believe in I got a little booty said it would happen if cleansing the Earth there if it is let him down all the wrong that's done the things Daniels praying about straighten us up Lord. Santa give it time. I'll Straighten It Up. But I'm tearing a bit. I'm going to I'm going to wait a little bit longer if you're killed right off we go by my time here is done. I'm checked out I go to heaven can't lose number to be ready for trouble and intense persecution. Once again, right now we talked about the persecuted church. We pray for the persecuted Church of the world over there are areas today where it's a lot like that you're someone's at the door watching and you going to evacuate people out to the missions conference are people there that were asking for prayer. It seems like there's been interesting shift. There's some areas of the world were Christian missionaries might still be murdered if you came from another country, but there's an interesting thing that's happened in the world today seems like government would be better. That's what the Christians before and Christians come in. And they'll set up churches and then we'll just send them home and murder the flock. That's a much easier way to kill Christians. Then it is to try to hunt down keep everybody secret. We want to know where you're going. So the prayers are a little different than Mission conference several people that were in high-security areas are like, well, we don't use the word missionary. I don't want you to use it either but the government knows we're there and that were missionaries, but they don't know who were missionaries to that's where we got to keep it disconnected who is going to change it was going to be the shell game questions at this time. That will be how it is the world over right? We're going to see the end times coming to bed or where the governments have now turned on Christianity full-bore. If you're a few represent Christ, you're in the air on the outside looking in in massive amounts of persecution. It's not going to be a picnic. It's not going to be there's no protected areas. Most likely right. You don't have people in America for things to you while you're in Vietnam. Everything is like Vietnam. Everyone's meeting in Secret locations in and trying to convert people because that's happening right? It's everybody is This is at War and it's a great time to tell people that Jesus don't got to be careful. That many will be desperate for fire Insurance it spoken of in here. We got several people that'll yes. I believe I can sign to make sure that I'm okay. I don't have a contract that I can you put your name on there. And now you're in it happen. If you will be desperate for the truth. Once they find out that what you're signing up for is kind of a life on the run in persecution of proclaiming Christ all the way through suffering perhaps to death several be like what like that I just don't want to suffer if you guys can take something away. I'll sign up if you're saying I might be a listening more suffering enough. Thank you that one of us in here specially as a believer that blows my mind why when you see what the Bible says is happening is happening. Why would you say this is true?

The last question in the Bible study today. For small group. One of the final question was why did some people think that this this chapter of Daniel was written in 280? Turn liberal Scholars. They said the reason is because it's so closing lines of History hit a campy prophecy. Someone went back an edited this so it aligns perfectly with history there. So you got doesn't really know people just put the truth backwards. That's not what happened folks. It's been around for a long time to prophesy is real but those sorts of lies that kind of Deceit that's going to happen though. That's what they say will happen because they watch it happen. But this is just speculation. What's really going to happen? I'm not the Antichrist. Everything's going to be fine. Right? So we're talking about witnessing at this time. Where is we might think desperation is going to cause a massive on side of new Believers that are desperate to go to heaven. But this is just another ruse, you know, you guys never stop the same thing as I've always going to be the Antichrist here. We talked about Not Giving Satan more credit than he deserves our life. You've made mention of the travel time from the pulpit, right? I don't make don't make that choice and say all the devil made me do it. Now you did you did that yourself. You don't need the devil make bad choices, but at this time and I'm through 11 and kick them off that right? There's no is it all he's got full court, press 100% Turn it down. So spiritual warfare devil affecting leadership and countries and swing things around. The Antichrist. Satan is absolutely going at it as best. He can trouble and intense persecution. Count on God to rescue his people if you see her walking through these right this this notion. I like having that doesn't sound so good. Right but know that God's going to rescue this the Antichrist are going to move. The quail suffering that he's coughing that is like lighting a fire and then selling fire insurance. This is the trick that we wouldn't fall for that today. Right all the time. Someone shows up as a rock through window. Hey, I'm here selling Windows who knew that's what's going on here things to happen. He's ruining the world and at the same time preaching a false salvation in him. And this is going to work folks. It's worked all over the place as hell entire countries end up falling at megalomaniacs that do horrible things because people gravitate towards power and if look at how can you get to a position like that if you're not genuine and honest This is a time to depend on God and God alone for protection and provision right now. I still have a pretty big hand in the Safety and Security of my family seemingly. Right. I could we have to order some locks and you know, I can defend my home adequately if I needed to I feel like in some regard. This isn't that's kind of situation are going to be a bunch of Christian banding up in here with guns pointed at the door. This is not that situation. This is a place now where the world as undone V if we take all the we have today with Law & Order throw it out the window. That's what we're up against a new law has been written by one Maniac that wants to see the world burn literally want to see the world burn. He's going to get his wish it's going to burn but it's not going to be the way you think it's going to happen. What time is it in is drawing to an end? We talked about this time and time and time again. The suffering while bad is not infinite. There's one time and that occurs L. This is not hell. It's going to seem like hell but our messages like if you think this is bad imagine having to do this ever, how can you be so positive because this is all going to stop soon soon. It's been happening for years soon in the grand scheme of things whatever serving as occurring today ends soon. We live forever death holds no power over us. Easier said than done even as Christians. We work really hard these days to avoid that we pray that God won't come to us. We pray that others are spared from it. We pray for strength in the face of it. Right in the face of death comes from God it better because everything else will fail at this time all the things that we hold dear about the process of death with graveyards and cremations and services at a time. Like this may not supposed to have served in Wartime. You don't get those luxuries. There's no closure. There's things like Mass Graves and stuff like that. This is a time where those that believe in God and understand what the word says about deaf know that this is a temporary thing and you ever get any work. I have to face that we count on God to rescue his people God Will Take Care Of Death has no power here. The Antichrist has no power. He thinks he does a lot of people think he does. He does not kill us find beat us fine. Got this taken care of. We are already saved. Number for Hope in the resurrection and this is a fun slide, I think because we talk about the resurrection. I say the resurrection and everybody myself of Jesus Christ. That's what we celebrate in at the resurrection that gives us hope he overcame that Jesus resurrection sets a precedent and Harold our Resurrection when you get into this eschatological study you realize that we're going to be resurrected to into new bodies just like Jesus was

We'll talk about that now because we don't see that now and people on this Earth. We do not see them come back to life and resurrected bodies if they all just like Jesus at this time, this is what's going on. We see it reference here directly right? When you seen this this Vision say whether the dead will will be your eyes those about everybody we get new bodies at tons in Revelation. Glorified bodies right will be getting some weed for the angels to shame. That's my opinion is not in the words, right? But I think of the glorification of our bodies and effort to glorify God we are going to see exactly what's going on here. He's preparing us for splendor basking in his glory. Jesus at the president we live to serve him at the promises we get to be resurrected with him. We don't die and stay that our bodies here will perish but we're going to get in Dubai. If you knew that you were going to get a brand new car. Would you worry about your old car dying the moment your old card I should get a new car how many of us would be fixing our old car. Nobody know if I said now however until your old car dies. We need you driving on places that your new car can't get to. Oh I see. Well, maybe I'll keep my old car running as long as I can but I'm not going to sweat it when it died. Cuz I know I get the new car that gets to drive on roads of gold that's better when the time is right. That's what we need to think about. This world is temporary we got work to do here. We're not going to throw ourselves in a shredder so we can go get our new bodies. That's a bad idea. We got work to do however know that the resurrection is coming we get to Again with Christ forever perfect. Peace. No, sin. No despair. That is a wonderful. Hope we were created in the image of God will get to experience that truth for all eternity. We spent mention is a lot of work rate in the image of God, and we tried and we are on our glorified body, but then tells me the image of God will be fulfilled. We'll see exactly what we were created to be and it's going to be amazing. Just absolutely amazing. number 5 what's a good during an X live wisely and point others to Jesus we talked about this and Daniel living there was a great question said what's the one attribute of the faithful Believers wise appears twice? Why is he will do this that and the other in the unwise won't we see the same word here? if it says a I mentioned The Shining like stars forever because the it's exactly how it's described. I see if I can find it in here real quick.

As you turn away and those who are wise shall shall science and those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above. And those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever. That's pretty good. Wise right not those who are good orders or those who are very tall or exceedingly handsome wise yy's. I bet that what God Said, not me. We talked about living wisely. There's something to that right we trust in the Lord. We have faith our Salvation rests squarely in Jesus alone are wisdom does not save us at all. No debate there. You can't reason this out. There's no Rubik's cube to solve and say We'll look at Weis. I was well, you didn't believe in Jesus, but you're very wise to come on. You know, our wisdom is born of that event are hope our life our faith our love Grace all of that creating us when we do when we approach the situation the wise living comes from not squandering things much like the car Hachi. It's unwise to throw a car away that runs if that car allows us to do something that the new car doesn't allow us to do we don't have Fulton resurrected bodies wandering around the earth witnessing for Christ. That's our job while we are here. It's our job. So we must make wise decisions. We need to we need to be Discerning when people offer us options. We need to weigh it against things like the word of God wife. By the people, why do we use terms like wise counsel? We expect folks that we surround ourselves with to read the word and discuss with us the word an in and apply that to decisions. We have to make the end times are going to be rough in that regard. I can I know this because it's reference to you that the wise will succeed people will need to be thoughtful but what's going on where they go and how they act and who they work with and who they take money from and get my to wisdom live wisely but pointing others to Jesus be like, oh you think you can outsmart the Antichrist? No, I don't need to outsmart. The Antichrist. God is fixed this up. This is all handled. But today in order for me to maximize my witness. I'm going to have to be pretty wise and they use the word wise not not just to say. Oh well, you know If this is why people get to go to those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of sky above and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever those two things are right together, if you're wise and you turn people to Christ. That's what we're talking about the end times that's what we need people to do and to do that believe it or not. Got to be thinking about that. We trust the Lord but we've got to think you don't want to lose sight and we don't want to lose sight of the world to need for Christ. I thought about holding ourselves up building a compound and celebrating the glory of the Lord there that's not the end times play for Christians the antennas play as being out there in the thick of it missions were all the way to the end. Tough pill to swallow. It's tough time study. It's really tough on you read this and you're reading it is emissions manual. Look, what's going to happen. Look what's going to come next think about that kind of stuff. Can I get out there and talk to you about Jesus? Oh man. Thanks rolling down the street and I priced, you know murdering people that claim Christ, but I just walked outside say I'm better than if I leave out the back and go I don't know but those are the kinds of things we talked about I think wisdom is giving a high position here live wisely want others to Jesus. Number 6 treasure God's word and grow in your understanding of it and I'll be thinking why not one. Why would this be number one? I don't know those listed in order. Don't take It's Not Top 10 like it's not with this is he's a thing is all nine of these equally important. With all that horror. I'll have a hard time making I'll have a hard time making time for Bible study. Anybody relate to that question they can let yourself get together for Bible studies really while people are the streets running with blood of Labor. With all my heart. I have a hard time making time for drinking water. Stop out happen just so busy. I'll just die cuz I remind you of it your mouth will be dry or start to be dizzy you start to suffer from dehydration people recognize this to drink some water. Same goes for the word of God. 13 hour the pain now commit now your body all crave the word like water. When this time comes you won't have to remember to make time for Bible study anymore and you have to remember to make time for drinking water. Your body will remind you of this. You'll see things in the world that will instantly take you to a place I oh my gosh. I remember reading about this and I do that. I've got to pray I feel so hopeless and so lost I I I need to be refreshed by the word. I need God to encourage me through this. I need God. That's what it boils down to this is what we will have the word all the way to the end. We see it unfolding Revelation is never said in the word was taken from the people and they were forced to do with what they memorize at that point. We don't see that happening. The word is here that during this time we're walking we're walking through these end times and figure out what to do with our lives. It's not well it's time for war check the Bible out and let's get out there and fight. No The Bible goes into the fight we fight in the way. God would have us fight. Our war is not against flesh and blood but against principalities in high places, right that continues all the way then even one flesh and blood is at our doorstep with hammers and guns. That's a who were fighting against. That's that's really hard to even think about now. It's going to be tough then but if folks when we get out of here in this place and we study this stuff and you leave perplexed and Confused. Like I know what I do. Somebody showed up at my house. I'm going to kill my kids don't eat some stories of missionaries in the world today. It's horrifying what's happening to people today people pull out of their house was raped and murdered in front of their families by the government. Oh my gosh, I'm glad that doesn't happen here. It's going to happen here. That is exactly what happened in those countries and then are left unchecked to do whatever they want because they're absolutely consumed with themselves and we got to be ready for that right? When you see hear these stories every time I can't listen to people talk cuz I feel like a nobody and I like God is good all the time. Songs that is Blessed Assurance is written about a guy whose entire family drowned. He wrote the hymn because he's spending time on the word and he struck by how God is still good. He's finding comfort in the world. Can you find comfort in a God that would allow that to happen because God's going to make all of that right, but I wrote the song that we sing today. That's how God works way outside at Treasure the word of God draw to it when things get bad and then you'll get it out to others be like, I don't understand how you could do this. Why don't you heartbroken? Let me show you this right here. I say this over and over myself a hundred fifty times a day when I'm watching the world unravel. Maybe I'll try that do please try that. My word on a secret thing. You can read it to I'll give you a copy take it with you. If you're in a day, if you don't have a Bible that God wanted me to God's word bible is all over the place. Take one thing at home and get more Bibles don't leave here with no Bible. You have a Bible that's in that's not a good excuse for church Bibles, New York. Number 7 patiently trust that God will end things at the right time frame for patient is a tricky business, right? Bring in general for things as a tricky business. The patient is one of those that comes up a lot. I think pretty near-term story lots of few months ago. Now we were over there on Wednesday night and we'll listing out things to pray for. I think I brought up suffering. Let's pray for suffering because it will find us. And that next week I got laid off from my job as likely that's what I get. Now. God is good all the time that whole event things change in my life for the better. I made new friends. I I realized different perspectives about who I am and what I do when I really serve on my real job is if you will things like that, maybe if you're doubting praying for patience is a good idea then do it do it. See what happens, right? That's my if I pray God help me become more patient. Well, maybe that's what the first start walking get an opportunity to walk a lot more. That's probably exactly the answer to the prayer in this case patients will really be a double-edged sword. Finding things at the right time is a nice way of saying God's going to do what God's going to do. And if you suffering of her sister's death, like I don't know if anybody has ever prayed in those two regards. I've heard it preyed one time. And that was when we were at Thanksgiving dinner. My wife's mother her like mice grandparents. Her mom's parents were in assisted living and we're pretty badly to climb by this point and we were Thanksgiving dinner and her mother prayed for them their well-being and pray that God will take him home because I've lived a long life. They're both our minds have slipped away. They were in poor health in many regards and she was like Lord of I think they've done their time. I think it's just take him home. It's hard to see in this way and it's hard to remember thinking like that. Like you're not really for Dad sort of but like there's a time when you say this is worse than death in some regard. It's harder for me. No, this is her prayer to holy God for hearts desire communicate with him Lord. This is what I want, but your will be done right course, we all go home eventually resurrected from life to life. There's a bunch of us are going to die and still get to come back to life.

I don't know Lord. I don't know if I want to be patient anymore. I don't know what comes after this patients for what death no take him now. Ben X going to be live at there will be however unprecedented opportunity for believers to demonstrate the power of the Prince of Peace when you're facing. Impatience. When is God going to end this when's it going to stop? Why is it still happening? How many Christians are going to die? How many people came to the church got frustrated that God's not yet ended it yet, but still death was still suffering and leave because God didn't meet their needs on timeline. Not the faithful not those who are wise. Those are wise know that it's coming when God wants it. Then when we talked about Jesus Christ as the Prince of Peace, this is going to be a time that repeatedly demonstrate. A peace that transcends everybody's understanding. Where do you get that from from The Prince of Peace? He's in charge of it. He's bestowed it unto me because I prayed for it while I'm being impatient. I'm nervous just like you are not comes and then it goes away because the Prince of Peace dwells in the end. He fills me up with peace and then I can exudative it. I never said calm down to somebody calm down as it ever worked. It never does. It's like there's a gasoline on it right? Have you thought about calling I never dawned on me to call me know I'm at rationally angry. I know it should be called. I don't need you to tell me to become that's not the situation here by you have Believers walking in the street. That's what's going on in these are people that are inherently, the people are coming to us saying she don't you freaking out about what what what am I going to freak out about suffering and death when they pull your toenails how to put things on your toenails or whatever like that's going to be terrible, but it's not happening now and when it does I'll deal with it then but for now I got work to do. I know how old is inside only have so many toenails does it mean to that to write eventually they're going to be out of those so

All the way and people will be blown away by that. Some people are nuts. But others will say I am desperate for that. I want to know that piece. I want to be able to go to sleep at night knowing that I might not wake up. I want to know how to do that. If you're leaving you'll get any sleep at night because you're nervous and you're worried about things. I got good news. You don't have to do that before he doesn't fix anything. Doesn't want you to bother with that you're being time does a time when all this is getting amplify Warriors will really like crazy over themselves to death also got peace patiently trusting in God when things at the right time I can have to do with them. Number eight pursue Holiness and rejoice and it's fruits. The gap between the whole damned will win this time progresses. So use this term as those that are not going to be safe than there are some that just talking to be safe there refused God actively engage and things to do Des Peres the church and his word for being against God not because they're necessarily selfish. They really hate God that gaple widen. It will not when you read this and I think there's a lot of it is well by and infiltrate the church and he's going to be there at the church. One of the inner crisis is controlling has nothing to do with got those in the government get to align and bad things going to happen will see this Gap White In some ways that's good and somebody that's going to be tricky because you got to pick up line. Right? And that one road is narrow one road is wide but that's going to be tough is going to be a lot of people that think they're on the narrow road, but they're really in the shoulder of the Y road and that road shoulder or Road help a narrow road. Does purification in a resurrection is plenty of fruit for all eternity, right? So when we talked about the bearing of food here rejoicing and it's fruits of our Holiness when we do what God has called us to do when we remain steadfast in the word steadfast of The Commandments of God. We may not see a lot of fruit here. Am I feel that way today? Even though I do like, I'd love to see things that I think are good fruit here. Like why would the doors blown open and whole bunch of people get baptized on this kind of stuff. I was playing Church of What's Happening. There's nothing to do with God that caught up in the emotion. They're caught up in all this stuff. We don't want that. We want real Kingdom work and time is going to be a Time For That by But their fruits before that is well, there will be fruit. There will be encouraged by Phil be people getting baptized in in an area that has the only clean water source for I want whatever because they they just were going to get baptized in the midst of all this destruction to see somebody wanting to take that one step that will encourage us as Believers will say yes. God is still good. He's still working. He has not abandoned us people on this wonderful, right? That's a fruit. That's a fruit as a little tiny thing here when a when a life is spared a new person comes to cry to somebody is this morning, but in their martyrdom, they they they they they speak speak a word of a write a letter to someone else's changes their life and this has happened today. It's going to happen a lot at the end times. God is going to preserve that women.
