Recovering From a Bad CONNECTION
Psalm 55:12–14 NLT
It is not an enemy who taunts me— I could bear that. It is not my foes who so arrogantly insult me— I could have hidden from them. Instead, it is you—my equal, my companion and close friend. What good fellowship we once enjoyed as we walked together to the house of God.
“12 It is not an enemy who taunts me— I could bear that. It is not my foes who so arrogantly insult me— I could have hidden from them. 13 Instead, it is you—my equal, my companion and close friend. 14 What good fellowship we once enjoyed as we walked together to the house of God.” 22 Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.”
INTRODUCTION: A Bad Connection can, will, and for some of us has hindered our ADVANCEMENT in 2019.
There’s no connection that can hinder or hurt us more than that of someone close to us who was supposed to help us and yet has hindered us.
Proverbs 17:17 NLT
A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.
Proverbs 17:
How Do We Recover From A BAD CONNECTION?
1.) Know Who to Call:
Psalm 55:16 NLT
But I will call on God, and the Lord will rescue me.
a. “There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.”
b. God has a purpose for all that we suffer “I will cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill His purpose for me.”
2.) Surrender it to God: Vs.22a “Give your burdens to the Lord…”
a. “Commit everything, trust Him, and He will help!”
b. “The Lord will uphold you…”
3.) Trust Him to heal our hearts: Vs.22b “he will take care of you.”
a. By teaching us to try/test/discern by the Spirit of God.
1 John 4:1 ESV
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
b.
4.) He will keep us from falling in that trap again: Vs.22c “He will not permit the godly to slip and fall”
