Me

Intro: Childhood story of Little girl at the swimming pool almost drowning me and my best friend.

We

We find 2 extremes represented:
Perseverance of the saints “Once Saved, Always Saved”
John 10:28 ESV
28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
John 10:
“One unrepented of sin will condemn you to a sinners Hell.”
The world of course want’s us to believe that we must choose from one of these two extremes.
Transition: We of course aren’t interested in what man has to say about this important subject, but we want to know what the author of life, what God himself has to say about it.

God

There’s any number of places we could turn to this morning I think that addresses this topic, but I think Hebrews chapters 6-10 specifically addresses what we need to know regarding the assurance of our salvation.

Notes

1 John 1:7 ESV
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
Romans 8:1 ESV
1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
1 John
Romans 4:8 ESV
8 blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin.”
1 JOhn 3:
1 John 3:4–10 ESV
4 Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. 5 You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. 6 No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. 7 Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. 8 Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. 9 No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. 10 By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.
