How to Build a good house

Matthew 7:24–27 ESV
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
Gods Word Will build your house
Knowing Gods word and seeing his promises for your life will change your view on life.
What would you do if someone told you there was hidden treasure in your house? You would undoubtedly want to know where and what it was. As this story illustrates, the treasure is at your fingertips.
A Christian worker entered a wretched, poverty-stricken home. Beneath a rickety table, he saw a dust-covered Bible. As he left, he said, “There’s a treasure in this house which if discovered and believed would make you all rich!” A diligent search was made for the hidden treasure. “Could it be a jewel or a pot of gold left by the former occupants of the home?” asked the searchers one of another. Their search was in vain. No treasure was found.
Not long thereafter, the mother picked up the old Bible. She began to [turn] the pages of the unread Bible. On the flyleaf were written these words, “Thy testimonies are better to me than thousands of gold and silver!” “Ah!” she exclaimed, “can this be the treasure the stranger spoke of?” She and the other members of the family began to read the Bible. A change came into their lives. A change came into their home. Love, joy, and peace came into hearts which were formerly filled with sin and discontentment.
When the Christian worker returned to the home, the grateful family exclaimed, “We have found the treasure, and in reading it and receiving it into our hearts, we have also found the Saviour!”
The Word of God is the greatest treasure you could ever possess. Have you laid claim to your treasure … or are you living in poverty?
We say the Kitchen is the heart of the house
Its where we gather to eat
Its where we come home and its the first place we go to
Its the place where we prepare food.
Its a place where we have conversations
Its a place where a family will grow.
So the Kitchen is known as the heart of the home
What if the bible was that kitchen for us?
The Bible Gods word can become our Joy, Conversation with the Father, the place to get over depression, to get over anxiety and it can become our food.
The bible becomes our heart, it becomes our joy, its a place where the conversation can happen between the Father and us.
The bible is known as God’s word therefore he is speaking to us through it.

How well built is your house?

Is it built well enough to with stand the storms of life, to withstand depression, anxiety, job loss.
Is your house built on a strong foundation
Be devoted to Gods Word
Study God’s Word
Be sunk into it
In France, there once lived a poor blind girl who obtained the Gospel of Mark in raised letters and learned to read it by the tips of her fingers. By constant reading, … [her fingers] became callous, and her sense of touch diminished until she could not distinguish the characters. One day, she cut the skin from the ends of her fingers to increase their sensitivity, only to destroy it.
She felt that she must now give up her beloved Book, and weeping, pressed it to her lips, saying “Farewell, farewell, sweet word of my Heavenly Father!” To her surprise, her lips, more delicate than her fingers, discerned the form of the letters. All night she perused the form of the letters. All night she perused with her lips the Word of God and overflowed with joy at this new acquisition.”
Do you feel like this with God’s Word?
Would it be something that if you lost your sight you would want to go and get a braile version?
Would it be something that if your fingers lost there feeling you would then touch with your lips?
Is it somewhere you go to regually to build your life on, to build your house on?
Study his word, Strong Concordance is free online
For Example: According to Strong’s Concordance, the Greek word for “Keep” is, ‘phylassō’ which means, “To guard to watch, keep watch and protect.” When God establishes you, He will keep you from evil.
So when you begin to read versus knowing that information it sounds very different
According to Strong’s Concordance, the Greek word for “Keep” is, ‘phylassō’
For Example:
Malachi 3:11 ESV
I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of your soil, and your vine in the field shall not fail to bear, says the Lord of hosts.
Mala
Here the word rebuke is in the same word category as Keep therfore God is a God of Protector
Allow God to lead you and He will make you stable and surefooted
Allow God to lead you and He will make you stable and surefooted
2 Samuel 22:34 ESV
He made my feet like the feet of a deer and set me secure on the heights.
2 Samuel 22:34 ESV
He made my feet like the feet of a deer and set me secure on the heights.
2 Samuel 22;34
2 Samuel 23:
Feet of a deer, its a strong animal can run faster than a human,
It can live in low minus temperatures
It can brave the storms.
Therefore God will establish you and protect you.
Let his word take a deep root you allow it to be your foundation that you build your house on.
Let his word build the infrastructure of your house
Once you start to get through the Bible and God’s Word you can begin to build your house.
You can let it be the infrastructure that you need.
Speak Gods word over you
Build the house by practising Gods word, on yourself and others.
Build the house by practising Gods word, on yourself and others.
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.”
Jesus’ true followers not only hear his words, but they act on his words, allowing his message to make a difference in their lives.
Once you get reading God’s Word start practicing what it says.
When you put a house together, you have to pick up the two pieces of wood and knock them together to make the house.
You have to do something to truly understand what it says.
There is a story of a missionary in Korea who had a visit from a native convert who lived a hundred miles away, and who walked four days to reach the mission station. The pilgrim recited proudly, without a single mistake, the whole of the Sermon on the Mount. The missionary was delighted, but he felt that he ought to warn the man that memorizing was not enough—that it was necessary to practice the words as well as to memorize them.
The Korean’s face lit up with happy smiles. “That is the way I learned it,” he said. “I tried to memorize it, but it wouldn’t stick. So I hit upon this plan—I would memorize a verse and then find a heathen neighbor of mine and practice it on him. Then I found it would stick.”
The Bible is not just a book about people who have changed … it is a book that changes those who read it and live out what they read!
Ephesians 3:
Ephesians 3:20–21 ESV
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Psalm 37:23 ESV
The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way;
Psalm 37
When reading and knowing and doing God’s word versus like this will come alive.
John 10:10 ESV
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
You could begin to practice God’s word here at church, you could show up at 3:30 to have a prayer meeting and help put the tea and coffee or you could welcome people as they come through the doors?
This could be a great starting place to practice God’s Word
Its where I began.
Story of Serving at Hillsong and how it lead to where I am today.
When your house foundation is built by reading the word and Serving in Church.
You will then begin to ask these questions.
What am I called to do?
What has the lord placed in my heart to do?
Then with God’s word in your heart, and his words on your lips, there is no obstacle, no mountain no dissapointment that can then come to your confession of faith.
Your confession can be: I will not have that in my house, that anxiety, that depression, that not sure about myself, that money loss.
Because the bible says that God will do more than what I can dream or imagine.
At the end of the day, we are called to be:
Proclaimers of the word
Preachers of the truth
And confessers of the Gospel.
Because God can do more than you will ever imagine and far more than what we can ask for.
If we build our houses well.
We can live in all these promises, we can live out what the bible says.
Ask yourself how well can I build my house?
Or ask yourself how well can I build my house?
