How Much Am I Worth?
How Much Am I Worth?
I was thinking that we about what we feel we are worth to GOD. WE know what HE is worth to us…everything, AMEN?
We’re walking around being who we are. Who are we? We are sons and daughters of a living GOD.
So, you’re going through your day...
- you drop your coffee on the way to the car
- you’re late, you need gas so you have to stop just in case you get stuck in traffic
- you get stuck in traffic
- your boss is in a bad mood so…you find out when you walk in to work
your day is fine, but, when you get home, you have to change the cold water hose in the kitchen sink (water, water everywhere)
As your driving to Home Depot, you get cut off and have to hit your brakes…you stop but when you start to roll again, you feel a flat....AAAAAAA...
You look up and say “WHY ME?…WHY ME?”
This starts the dialogue about our worth. What do we think we're worth to our Father GOD? HE lets this stuff happen…yea...
When we’re kids, do you ever think that your brother or sister is liked more than you?
Do you ever think that folks don’t like your company?
That’s value…that’s worth…not money worth or money value, that’s an emotional value.
An emotional value is what we, as individuals, come up with, to help us rationalize how others may feel about us and why they react as they do.
<<EXPAND>>
Emotions are moving of the mind or soul; excitement of the feelings, whether pleasing or painful; disturbance or agitation of mind caused by a specific exciting cause and manifested by some sensible effect on the body.
<<EXPAND>>
Value…that’s a good one. What is value?
We highly value what is very important to us.
For example:
1 - Our house is important to us (a roof over our heads)
2 - Our job is important to us (what pays bills, tithes to the chucrh)
3 - A way to get around (car, bus, motorcycle, bicycle, etc)
4 - Clothes, so we can be sociable (the first fall of man)
<<EXPAND>>
Put them together, we put worth on our emotions and our stuff. That’s good with the gift of discernment, but, with other feelings like anger or stress, that value could throw us off and then satan shows up to throw us off more.
BTW…about satan? Don’t give him so much credit. Things about satan:
1 - he was created by GOD so he does not have GODS power... Ezekiel 28:17...Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom by reason of your splendor. I cast you to the ground; I put you before kings, That they may see you.
2 - he does not know your heart, he only guesses about it. Job 1:11 MSG...“But what do you think would happen if YOU reached down and took away everything that is his? He’d curse YOU right to YOUR face, that’s what.”
3 - He is smaller than out GOD…AMEN?
OK, going back…
GOD values us higher than everything…
- Genesis 1:27...God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
JESUS called us friends…
- John 15:12-14...“This is MY commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. You are MY friends if you do what I command you.
HE loves us so much that HE helps us where we are...
- Peter, John, and James, were fisherman (Luke 5:1-11), Matthew was a tax collector (Luke 5:27-28).
We’re in good company.
<<EXPAND>>
Grace and mercy...
- John 1:16...For of HIS (JESUS’) fullness, we have all received, and grace upon grace.
Mercy...
- Matthew 18:33...Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow slave, in the same way that I had mercy on you?
GODS LOVE FOR US WAS BEYOND BELIEF…
- Ephesians 2:4-7...But GOD, being rich in mercy, because of HIS great love with which HE loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with CHRIST (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with HIM, and seated us with HIM in the heavenly places in CHRIST JESUS, so that in the ages to come HE might show the surpassing riches of HIS grace in kindness toward us in CHRIST JESUS.
The scriptures explain how much we are loved. We are higher than angels…they are never given the choice to serve, they must serve. If not, they are banished as satan was.
When it gets tough, know, with complete confidence, that GOD is with you
- knowing that your flat tire keeps you from something worse
- knowing that traffic shows that if you were running on time, you could have been the one in the accident, or worse
- the water line, well, satan wants to keep shaking you to pull you away.
VALUE…looking at your stuff and thinking value, we’re higher on the list. Don’t let your emotions guide your path, let GODS love give you the guidance.
Let’s pray...
