KNOWING THE WILL OF GOD

EPHESIANS 5:17

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

I.                   THAT WE WALK IN LOVE; EPHESIANS 5:2 “And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.”

A.   CHRIST IS OUR EXAMPLE

B.   THIS KIND OF LOVE WILL KEEP US FROM SIN; EPHESIANS 5:3-7

C.   OUR LIVES WILL BE VERY DIFFERENT FROM THE UNBELIEVERS

II.                THAT WE WALK IN THE LIGHT; EPHESIANS 5:8 “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:”

A.   CAUSING US TO DO WHAT IS ACCEPTABLE WITH GOD; EPHESIANS 5:8-10

B.   THIS WILL CAUSE US TO REFUSE FELLOWSHIP WITH THOSE WHO PRACTICE SIN; EPHESIANS 5:11

C.   THIS WILL CAUSE US TO REPROVE THOSE WHO WORK DEEDS OF EVIL; EPHESIANS 5:11-13

III.             THAT WE WALK CIRCUMSPECTLY (WISELY); EPHESIANS 5:15 “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,”

A.   BEING ALERT, RECOGNIZING THE TIMES

B.   RECOGNIZING THE WORKS OF THE ENEMY

C.   REDEEMING THE TIME (USING IT WISELY)

IV.            THAT WE BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT; EPHESIANS 5:18 “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;”

A.   THIS WILL RESULT IN HOLY LIVING

B.   THIS WILL RESULT IN HAPPY LIVING (OBEDIENCE BRING JOY)

V.               THAT WE BE THANKFUL FOR HIS BLESSINGS; EPHESIANS 5:20 “Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;”

A.   WE ARE TO BE THANKFUL AT ALL TIMES

B.   WE ARE TO THANKFUL FOR ALL THINGS

C.   WE ARE TO GIVE THANKS THROUGH JESUS CHRIST
