Introduction
God made me, He made me who I am...
You may be down, but pick yourself up
I'm a conquer, I'm victorious, I won't be stopped, I won't be stopped,
I'm a believer, I'm an achiever, I won't blocked, I won't be blocked
God made me, He made me who I am...
Psalm 139:
14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made:
Marvellous are thy works;
And that my soul knoweth right well.
13 For thou hast possessed my reins:
Thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made:
Marvellous are thy works;
And that my soul knoweth right well.
Psalm 134:
Jeremiah 1:5
5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Ch 6 - we as believers should be dead to sin.
Romans 6
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Romans 6:
Ch. 7 - we as believers should be married to Christ and understand that there will be Christian Struggles.
21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
Ch 8 - Paul begins a discourse on Life in the Spirit
Romans 8:
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
In our groanings and travail
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Romans 8:
So Paul begins the text today with “and we Know”
1st question who is the we/
and what should we know?
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
1 John 2:3
21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
1 John 2:21
1 John 3:2
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
1 John
1 John 3
14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
1 John 3:19
19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
1 John 4
1 John 5:
20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
As the subject, “all things” are in control, and while they end happily, they do so seemingly in and of themselves.
When God is the subject, he causes all things to work together for good. In other words, there is no doubting the outcome’s ultimate good.
We were Designed for a Purpose because of His Foreknowledge.
We were Designed for a Purpose because of His Foreknowledge.
God’s setting his love upon (choosing) those who would be conformed to his Son’s image.
2 You only have I known of all the families of the earth:
Therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.
Amos 3:2
9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?
Galatians 4:9
We were Designed for a Purpose because He Predestined Us.
We were Designed for a Purpose because He Predestined Us.
God’s determining the destiny of those upon whom he has set his love.
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Ephesians 1
to be conformed to the image of His Son
God adopted us as spiritual orphans into his family, so that his Son…might be the firstborn among many brothers.
We were Designed for a Purpose because He Called Us.
We were Designed for a Purpose because He Called Us.
God’s effectual call from death to life those upon whom he has set his love (cf. the calling forth of Lazarus in ).
We were Designed for a Purpose because He Justified Us.
We were Designed for a Purpose because He Justified Us.
God’s declaring as righteous those who have repented and believed.
We were Designed for a Purpose because He Justified Us.
We were Designed for a Purpose because He Justified Us.
God’s fulfillment of his purposes—the making of fallen sinners into the image of his Son, Jesus Christ, for eternity.
That key element is God himself: God has a “purpose” (v. 28),
God foreknew,
God predestined,
God called,
God justified, and God glorified (though future, glorification is written here in a “prophetic past tense”).
This passage is all about God, not man! God is the adopter, humans are the adoptees. God is designing, engineering,
