Psalm 37:23 KJV 1900
23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: And he delighteth in his way.
ps
Chapters three and four become more about Boaz then Ruth…
All rests in his hands.
Maybe he was more willing to accept a Moabite woman because of his mother?
Boaz: In him there is might - Strength
Solomon Temple has a pillar named Boaz (Solomon - great, great, grandson)
Of the tribe of Judah
Ruth 3:1–2 KJV 1900
1 Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee? 2 And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor.
ruth3.1-
Verse 1- shall I not seek rest for thee
Shall I not find a home for thee

My daughter, do not I seek for thee rest, that it may be well with thee?

Naomi felt responsible for her for the first time...
Before it was leave me alone...
Rather selfish, wounded view of everything - but now faith and hope has changed her perspective!
Verse 2: Confusing word Winnow scatter, fan, winnow (Arabic ذَرَا (ḏarā) cause to fly, scatter (of wind
scatter, fan, winnow (Arabic ذَرَا (ḏarā) cause to fly, scatter (of wind
Part of the process of separating the husk from the grain by tossing the bruised grain into the air and the stubble or chafe is blown away.
This husk or chaff was referred through throughout the scripture.
Psalm 1:4 KJV 1900
4 The ungodly are not so: But are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
Matthew 3:12 KJV 1900
12 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
Ephesians 4:14 KJV 1900
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
Plan develops
Ruth 3:3–5 KJV 1900
3 Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking. 4 And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do. 5 And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.
Process that Ruth goes through:
Wash herself
While cleanliness is next to godliness is not a verse in the Bible, it is there in principle!
BAPTISM
Put of new cloths
Change cloths indicates a change of life
She was embracing the promise of chapter one.
I am no longer a widow - not allowing her situation to define her!
I am pursuing something greater
REPENTANCE
Wait till the
Submit herself
ONLY POSITION ONE CAN TAKE TO RECEIVE WHAT THE REDEEMER HAS TO GIVE!
HOLY GHOST
Why the uncovering of the feet? Laying at his feet? Was their something sexual going on?
No forced air heaters
No fire in the barn (the chaff was extremely flammable)
Often a servant slept at the foot of the bed to provide warmth for the master’s feet.
Place of complete submission!
According to law, Boaz could have done what he wanted with her…
Turned her out publicly at that moment - embarrassing her
Allowed it to become sexual
Or did what he did as an honorable man
Mosaic Law: if a man became involved with a servant, captive or “stranger”/foreigner - to reject her in the morning was a long, expensive and embarrassing process with the end result being he was resoncible for her.
God’s way of making men think...
So Ruth and Naomi were taken care of no matter what…
Sound bad?
So Ruth put herself in that position?
Look closer: When you chose to submit, you willfully choose to make yourself vulnerable to another!
You are placing yourself in the position to be taken advantage of, hurt by and even abused!
REMEMBER, Boaz was a type of Christ...
He could have let us die in our sins!
But he didn’t!
Submission and vulnerability are not things that we can just jump into -
Naomi knew him...
Ruth had got to know him...
Then she made herself vulnerable to him!
THE ONLY WAY WE CAN RECEIVE REDEMPTION IS TO SUBMIT AND MAKE OURSELVES VULNERABLE!
Ruth 3:6–11 KJV 1900
6 And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her. 7 And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down. 8 And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet. 9 And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman. 10 And he said, Blessed be thou of the Lord, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich. 11 And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.
vs6- Just like faith without works is dead being along...
Submission without obedience is dead being alone!
Your’e not submitted until you obey!
You prove your submission though your obedience.
Timing:
Timing: Let’s wait until the conditions are perfect!
Then I will approach him...
Galatians 4:4 KJV 1900
4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
Timing is everything!

spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman

v9 - Spread your skirt over me for you are a relative...
Skirt = wing, covering, protection, warmth
Remember: 2:12 Boaz had almost prophesied this moment using similar language
Ruth 2:12 KJV 1900
12 The Lord recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.
She was asking a physical question, based in a righteous principle!
Warm me with the corners of your blanket because you are a relative!
I have a right and you have an obligation!
vs11 - I will fulfill my duty because you are a virtuous woman.
Virtuous = purity, morality, industry
Proverbs 12:4 KJV 1900
4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: But she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
Proverbs 31:10 KJV 1900
10 Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.
Much of Proverbs could have been written with Ruth in mind...
vs10 - Boaz was much older than Ruth…
Ruth 3:12–14 KJV 1900
12 And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman: howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I. 13 Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman’s part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the Lord liveth: lie down until the morning. 14 And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose up before one could know another. And he said, Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor.

There is always a problem!
There is always a solution!
v14 - he protected her honor
Ruth 3:15 KJV 1900
15 Also he said, Bring the vail that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and she went into the city.
Watch the progression of the Blessing of God
Start with corners...
Move to handfuls...
Then Handfuls on purpose...
Now she is taking six measures
Now she is taking more home with her then she can carry!
Over 60 lbs of grain!
Proverbs 10:22 KJV 1900
22 The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, And he addeth no sorrow with it.

Ruth 3:16–18 KJV 1900
16 And when she came to her mother in law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her. 17 And she said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, Go not empty unto thy mother in law. 18 Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.

18 She replied, “Wait, my daughter, until you learn how the matter turns out, for the man will not rest but will settle the matter today.”

Boaz won’t stop until the matter is resolved!
Once Ruth’s intentions were made clear, there was no stopping Boaz!
Boaz the Redeemer vs Jesus the Redeemer

2 Peter 3:9 KJV 1900
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
So when the Ruth’s and Naomi’s of this world prepare themselves through repentance and water baptism...
…Holy Ghost
Luke 12:32 KJV 1900
32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Kingdom = a term relating to royal administration
a term relating to royal administration

When we submit to Him
It is His good pleasure to give us royal administration!
