Acts 15:37–38 ESV
37 Now Barnabas wanted to take with them John called Mark. 38 But Paul thought best not to take with them one who had withdrawn from them in Pamphylia and had not gone with them to the work.
Acts 15

I. The unexpected and shocking good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

2 Timothy 4:11 ESV
11 Luke alone is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is very useful to me for ministry.
1 Peter 5:13 ESV
13 She who is at Babylon, who is likewise chosen, sends you greetings, and so does Mark, my son.

I. The unexpected and shocking good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

A. Jesus came with authority.
B. But Jesus conducted his authority secretly.
C. And constantly shocked people into amazement and fear.

II. The crisis you face in the shocking good news: Will you follow Jesus?

A. Jesus calls you to a life of faith and radical change.
B. Jesus calls you to true life that is only found in your death to self.
C. Jesus extends forgiveness for your sins.
D. Jesus calls you to experience his love and compassion for you.
E. Jesus calls you to follow him into persecution by the world and those you’ve loved most.
Will you take up your cross by faith and follow him in repentance or will you reject him?
Will you find forgiveness by faith in this unexpected, compassionate Savior?
