Even as believers, we can sometimes feel like failures. We work harder, spend more time making money on self-interests, but we still never get caught up—we never have enought—their is always more month than check.
We easily become frustrated—Nothing satisfies us.
Futility describes all our efforts. No matter how much we earn; no matter if we get caught up; we never seem to get ahead. We live week to week, month to month, or year to year.
Striving in vain build stress in God’s people. God instructs Haggai to tell us why we are so stressed.
We are stressed, because God is not pleased with His people.
God desires for us to be happy. Happiness is learning to enjoy God’s goodness. When God is not happy nobody is happy. He will confront us, in order to restore us to His pleasure.
