You look tense...

When I was in high school our church went to summer camp in MO at a camp on Table Rock Lake.
—> Boating, swiming, etc.
—> storm out of nowhere boat breaks down
—> we make it back to camp
Mark 4:35–41 ESV
35 On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” 36 And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. 38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” 39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” 41 And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
A few notes for you tonight...
first, even when you are in the middle of God’s plan storms still happen.
—> Jesus tells them to go out into the sea.
—> There are times in life when you have to go from point a to point b and there maybe some trouble along the way.
second, they weren’t alone. The disciples weren’t alone in the storm
—> they had “other boats”
—> they had Jesus
third, even as big as the storms in our life are the peace that Jesus brings is just as big.
—> we tell ourselves that our problems are too big to overcome not with God.
—> We assume that Jesus will work in a certain way Jesus didn’t remove them from the water he merely made it sailable again. They were in the same place on the same track the only difference is now they realized who was in their boat.
