Matthew 9:35 NIV
Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.
He was busy - he did the hard work,
Jesus was on a Mission to save the world!
But what he noted wa that - given he had a new message - there was no-one else ready to help him spred the word!
So what did he do?
He got people praying for more missionaries - more labourers!

Matthew 9:37 NIV
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.
Matthew 9:37–38 NIV
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

This months paryermeeting we are praying for unreached people groups.
In a moment we are going to watch a 5 minute clip showing us the state of the world we live in today interms of the what sort of percentage of the world has the oppertunity to hear the gospel or not.
And we’re going to see what sort of effort and effectiveness the current church is having to send labourers into that harvest field.
I think you’ll be suprised - And i want to therefore say, that tonight is an oppertunity to do the right thing.
It’s to see how much of a MIsison Jesus was on to save the world,
And an oppertunity to do the first thing he wants us to do in responce to the need.
Pray.

We need to go on a Mission!

But, there is more.
inconvieniently, someone eneded chapter 9 at this point and started chapter 10. That’s not how Matthew wrote the book.
He didn’t have chapters.
He intened for us to read on into the beginning of Chapter 10 without even noticing a break.
So let me do that now and see how the disciples are expected to respond to the prayers they have just been instructed to pray!
Matthew 9:37–10:8 NIV
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness. These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him. These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.
-10-8
Pray for labourers - now get on and be the labourers!
Freely you have received, now freely give!

Jesus was on a Mission to save the world

We should pray for others to go on Mission.

We should get involved in Mission.

Of course, we all have a mission to do right here in WP, in our work places, with our neighbours.
But there is an overwhelming NT model and expectation that we also really need to be involved in Mission to the unreached.

We need to go on a Mission!

To the towns and cities, nations and people groups that have not even got a Christian in their midst to tell them about Jesus.
Jesus didn’t just send the disciples door to door in their neighbourhood - as important tas that would be for neighbour to tell neighbour and so on a so forth!
But Jesus and the Disciples went to ALL the towns and villages.
I’ve said this many times and I will continue to say it.
WIll each of you, whatever your age or life situation, ask yourself,
Could I, could our family, could we as a couple, be the labourers to answer the prayers we are praying tonight for the unreacehd.
Could we go?
If the answer is yes, then great, let’s talk.
If the answer is no, then that gives you the responsibility fo praying, giving and supporting those that do.
And if the answer in anywhere inbetween, then pray some more and talk to me anyway.
Let’s watch the video.
