Scriptural ignorance regarding Christ’s coming leads to hopelessness.

1 Thessalonians 4:13 ESV
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.
ἀγνοέω - be ignorant - from where we get our word agnostic.
This is a word often used of unbelievers because they don’t know God or His ways
1 Timothy 1:3 ESV
As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus so that you may charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine,
1 Timothy 1:13 ESV
though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief,
Christians do grieve.
Christians don’t grieve the way unbelievers do. - The gospel shapes our grief.
What is the basis of our Hope?

On the worst day - on the darkest day of life - what is the basis of our hope?

1 Thessalonians 4:14 ESV
For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.

We look at everything in light of the death burial and resurrection.
