Christ as Substitue
If everyone sins and sin is against God then how can we be made right?
If gets worse, the bible says “The wages of sin is death.”
So what hope do we have of ever being made right or finding forgiveness from God? How can we make right what we have wronged?
Is there any help?
Is it through does doing good?
All our “righteous” deeds are polluted, we are unclean, our iniquities take us away like the wind...
What our righteous deeds?
and what are iniquities?
Righteous means- Our just, honest and good deeds.
It means everything we do even when it is “good” is still polluted with sin.
Our best actions can’t saved us cause they are still covered with sin and the pollution of sin.
Iniquities means -guilt, or punishment for guilt.
We are guilty of sin against God.
“For all have sinned.”
The guilt of our sin will carry us away like a leaf.
Where is the Hope?
Who can save us?
Apostle Paul exclaims
The Problem with Sin is that we all sin and the result of our sin is spiritual death.
We cannot save ourselves through our good deeds.
Sin has polluted everything we do.
So What can we do?
Who will deliver us form this body that is polluted with sin?
This question gets answered in the way God handles sin.
God is just and righteous meaning sin which is corruption must be dwelt with.
There is a wrong that must be made right.
If some one did something wronged to you (such as your sister or brother), and you went to court and the judges said it’s no big deal just go home.
Or your Parent didn’t do anything then you would feel injustice.
God is just and doesn’t let sin go unpunished.
Someone has to pay the price for the crime committed.
At the heart of Atonement ( which means to cover, cancel debt) is Jesus Christ substituting Himself for sinner as He died on the cross.
In the Old Testament that had a sacrificial system, The wages of sin is death, God being a God of grace aloud for the animals to be a substitute for the person.
The animal was sacrificed and died as a substitute for sins.
This sacrificial system provided a picture of humanity’s need for sin to be covered and guilt to be removed by an innocent sacrifice.
Those who believe?
Is to have to faith in.
It means that is it most certain and leads your life.
We who believe that Jesus was delivered up for our trespasses, and raised for our justification.-
This mean to be made justified- our sins our guilt no longer stand cause there was one who paid the debt of our sins, and if we believe in Him the only true God who died as a substitute for our sins than we can be saved by Grace through Faith.
Those who beleive?
Paul’s writes
Christ died for the ungodly.
We were once condemned in sin.
bJudgment had been made.
Sin had made us enemies of God, because it was against God’s law, God’s rules.
We hostile to God.
This word also mean a hatred towards God and His rules.
We rebelled against Him.
Some of us are still in this place.
We come to church and we think that that is enough.
I don’t have to do more than that, yet we stay in a place of being hostile toward God.
Faith affects and effects everything about us.
There is this Idea that things can’t stay the same, and if they do then you are not a new creation and you kind yourself.
There is nothing more scary then thinking you are going to make it into eternity and then at the very end you hear get away from me.
Salvation is for those who acknowledge their need for a savior, admit their that they are lost, confess their sins, and then walk in faith.
If Christ Died for our sins why would we think that we could just continue in them.
Do the same things over and over.
Christ took our place on that cross paying the price that each one of us owed.
We were polluted with sin and guilt
2 Cor 5:21
Christ took our place.
He was the substitute we needed.
Today if you haven’t look to the cross and found salvation, if you aren’t that new creation, it’s not too late.
God is calling you to respond.
The Bible calls the work of Christ on the cross a free gift.
If we
You don’t have to wait today can be that day.
For others maybe you have heard the stories and you have prayed the prayers, yet you still haven’t lived that new creation life.
You still keep making those same mistakes.
They can be simple mistakes that we don’t think are “that” bad, we might even say “at least I didn’t kill anyone.”
Well that standard ins’t a “that bad” standard but a Holiness standard.
Today “If you confess your sins, he is faithful and just to forgive you of your sins and cleanse you.”
The pollution of sin no longer has to be there cause Christ was a substitute and He paid our debt.
