Setting the Scene

map
V 1 Jesus went to the other side of the lake
Jesus by boat crowd by land
V 2, 3 Relaxing with His disciples
maybe some private teaching
V 4 Passover coming up there should not be a large crowd
passover in the spring hills are grassy, green
V 5 Jesus saw the large crowd coming 10-15000 people

Phillip is Tested

V 5 where can we buy bread?
why Philip? maybe because he was from that area and knew the resources
maybe Phillip is the quiet thoughtful one
maybe Jesus knew the response he would get , so that he could teach the rest a lesson

Testings

Testings are faith building exercises given to us by God
Genesis 22:1 LEB
And it happened that after these things, God tested Abraham. And he said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”
Abraham was going to do what God asked because he trusted him
1 Peter 1:7 AV
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
Philip is being tested, 15000 people need to be fed
Phillip has been with Jesus, he has seen
water turned into wine
cripple healed, demons cast out, people healed from all deseases
Phillip was given an impossible task
Ok every one lets go down to the village Green Bakery
I have a boatload of money…NOT
Falls into thinking like the world
An unbeliever, faith is trusting God for the Impossible
When we were saved
we realized that our way was hopeless
that it was only through Jesus
that Jesus did every thing for us
that
when we were saved we were seated in the heavenlies
our life now is by faith
Jesus is giving a lesson in faith to the desciples
Philip failed... so would we
1 Peter 1:7 CJB
Even gold is tested for genuineness by fire. The purpose of these trials is so that your trust’s genuineness, which is far more valuable than perishable gold, will be judged worthy of praise, glory and honor at the revealing of Yeshua the Messiah.
1
our faith is much more precious to Jesus than out giving

The Lads Lunch

V 8 two tuna sandwiches
barley bread and 2 picked sardines poor poor pooor
insignificant became significant in the hands of Jesus
The boy gave everything he had to Jesus
He could have kept it for himself.. Awe? curiosity?

Andrew

Andrew had the right idea bringing the lad to Jesus
but fell short on, what Jesus was able to do
I don’t have anything to offer so I’ll go see who does
Klinger on MASH able to get what is needed
Andrew brought the lunch but his faith could not see past it

The Need

it was the time of the passover celebrating the release of being a slave/ entering the wilderness totally dependent on God
celebrating God sparing the 1st born
celebrating the saving blood
The people were in need of food/ salvation
there is a great need in this world today - Jesus
people are physically hungry, in need of shelter, and clothing
All we have is 2 tuna sandwiches
we give what we have to Jesus and move forward
If the Father calls us to a mission, He will provide
every thing that is needed to start, is in our hands

Our Needs

Philippians 4:19 AV
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Jesus is the one who satisfies our all our needs
comfort
in our trials, the impossible obstacle in our way ,Which is nothing but Jesus proving himself to us
helping us to trust more in Him
Maybe we need comfort Have you gone to Jesus
Do you take everything to Jesus?
Pray without ceasing
the

Faith of an Unbeliever

checkbook
spouse
