Lord, Open Our Eyes

Over the next four weeks, we are going to do a 4-week study over the problems we face and how God handles those problems. My prayer is that our eyes will be open to more of the spiritual realm and we will be able to rest more in the power and protection of our God.
Many of us have had a rough week in one way or another. Is our salvation in what we see? Is our salvation in another person? We say no, but how many times do we look to a spouse, parent, or friend to make everything better. We need to look to the One who created us. He is our salvation. He is our rescue. Looking horizontally does not bring relief. Only looking vertically brings relief.
Today : Lord, Open Our Eyes
Week #2 - How To Treat Our Enemies
Week #3 - How To Think ans Act When the Enemy Attacks Again
Week #4 - See How God Delivers and Provides
2 Kings 6:8–17 KJV 1900
8 Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp. 9 And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down. 10 And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice. 11 Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel? 12 And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber. 13 And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan. 14 Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about. 15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? 16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. 17 And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
: 8-17
The Syrians were at war with Israel. The Syrians would send in groups of men to take captives and food. It was a form of guerrilla warfare. The king would choose certain locations to attack. God would tell Elisha.
Luke 8:17 ESV
17 For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light.
Elisha would warn the King of Israel. This happened numerous times. Now the King of Israel had the choice to decide if he was going to listen to the words of Elisha which he knew were the words of God. We have the choice to listen to the Words of God. We have the 10 Commandments that God wrote on tablets of stone to teach us the difference between what is right and what is wrong.
1 Thessalonians 5:22–24 ESV
22 Abstain from every form of evil. 23 Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.
1 Thessalonians
1 Thessalonians 5:22–24 KJV 1900
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. 23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
The king of Syria was becoming very angry. This may seem like over kill for the king of Syria to send a large army with chariots and horses to capture one man.
The enemy will throw things in your path. Satan does not want anyone else to come to a salvation knowledge of Jesus Christ. He does not want the creation with a living soul to live up to their potential. He does not want them to join the Army of God. He does not want this army to rescue the perishing or save the dying. There is a battle for your soul. There is a battle to prevent YOU from living in power and freedom. Does it seem like you have gone up against an army this week? I have heard from several that have. I tell you first, that you are not alone. I tell you second, that you are doing the right thing and do not stop. We are here to carry each other when we need it.
You may have gone up against an army meant to destroy you. But remember this. The enemy may have sent an army to try to destroy one person, but God sent One to redeem humanity.
2 Corinthians 5:
2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV
21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
We need to pray that God would open our eyes to see some of the spiritual world around us. If we could see that army of fire going with us everyday, we would have more confidence in the Lord. When we allow fear and doubt into our heart, it opens the door for the enemy to take up residence. And we do not want that. Would it scare you to see a part of the spiritual realm? If you do not walk in the power and resurrection of Jesus Christ, then you are just a leaf blown back and forth by the different winds of emotion. But when you are living a life full of power and freedom grafted into the family of God, you may feel like you are blown back and forth but you will not blow away because you are anchored in the rock of Jesus Christ.
